I have seen that done before, (in my previous buggy) but you need to check because the roof might be in the way because the seat rotates over a much larger arc. Plus it causes a fair amount of instability in the seat since it is only held down at the front, it moves from side-to-side unless you have some sort of recess at the back that holds it, or a clip or something. The hinge takes a lot of punishment when cornering with your weight pushing to the side in the rear of the seat so it needs to be lekka heavy and strong.

Porsche 924 seats are comfortable, and once they covered in leather then they are awesome seats! very form fitting...
From fastest to slowest:

If anyone is intersted I have a set of Golf 4 seats that have the matching rear beetle seats and 4 side pannels all covered to match. I have the beetle rails but never got down to welding them to the Golf seats. These are like new, not a mark on them, stunning.
R1850, it will cost more to recover stock seats & pannels

I had to drive a Golf 5 GTI last night from Midrand to Pta and it also has very nice bucket seats! The best part is that they have bolt on runners and are the ideal size for a type 3 or Bus. Anyone know where i can get :(
