Welcome Paladin.

As you've already heard, your bus is neither a Fleetline, a 54, nor a barndoor.

From your description it is a 64-67.

Post the VIN and I'll tell you exactly when it was built.

I know of only two pre-55 buses in SA, and one of them is a hack (in the VW museum) and the other is in storage. Real barndoor buses are rarer than split beetles.

Maybe you are posting the incorrect pic... as the pic is neither barndoor or flletline...

Another 2 productive hours lost to the South African economy.

Everyone from Sasol to Altec to Standard bank had to pay the price for a simple statement:

"Hello, I have a 1954 Fleetline."

Yes, we had double cabs in SA. Earliest I have seen dated from 1959. They were offered in split, baywindow, and T3, and the new T5 bus is also offered in double cab format. In today's market, a crew cab is a panel van with a second row of seats for the work crew.

Hey I see that is an old decomissioned SADF Crew Cab, with the anti-tank missile launcher on the right?

(I do hope that launcher is de-activated??? )
