Sounds nice! Speak to Bugger bout that tranny, he should be able to help you out and give you advise on what to use and what not to.

All I can say now is good luck, and will be watching this thread for updates :D

There is link to a build with a type 4 engine. I think there are a few things you have to do, but send IMPI a PM and ask him about the engine and PM Bugger about the gearbox.

The dash and the interior looks really cool - I think you should stick with the current colour and rack it and enjoy it. Mmmm...... I've got a nice rack handy - sure you dont want to leave your 68' at my place - indefinately :D

Buy a set of 96mm pistons from the states, get a nice cam,do some port and polish work on the ports, get some IDF webers and you'll have an awesome engine for your car, mild but awesome :)

Black paint, chrome trim, grey interior with red edging, 1700 motor, slight drop with a roof rack, mmm... I'm sure whatever you decide will look great!

Ok my Wife is not a big beetle fan but after she saw Rui's 58 now she is coming right cause she can see the potential of my'n.
So after some serious consideration I will keep the so call original colour for now and concentrate on the mechanical and the interior first then I will move to the outside of the car.
except for the roof rack that will be done this year:hangloose:

Nice one - are you gonna make a jig for the rack ? I'll be tking the one off springer (my 68) for a make over as time hasn't done it too many favours. While its off if you would like to a make a jig from it then the offer is there !
