Sounds nice! Speak to Bugger bout that tranny, he should be able to help you out and give you advise on what to use and what not to.
All I can say now is good luck, and will be watching this thread for updates

There is link to a build with a type 4 engine. I think there are a few things you have to do, but send IMPI a PM and ask him about the engine and PM Bugger about the gearbox.

The dash and the interior looks really cool - I think you should stick with the current colour and rack it and enjoy it. Mmmm...... I've got a nice rack handy - sure you dont want to leave your 68' at my place - indefinately

Buy a set of 96mm pistons from the states, get a nice cam,do some port and polish work on the ports, get some IDF webers and you'll have an awesome engine for your car, mild but awesome

Black paint, chrome trim, grey interior with red edging, 1700 motor, slight drop with a roof rack, mmm... I'm sure whatever you decide will look great!

Ok my Wife is not a big beetle fan but after she saw Rui's 58 now she is coming right cause she can see the potential of my'n.
So after some serious consideration I will keep the so call original colour for now and concentrate on the mechanical and the interior first then I will move to the outside of the car.
except for the roof rack that will be done this year:hangloose:

Nice one - are you gonna make a jig for the rack ? I'll be tking the one off springer (my 68) for a make over as time hasn't done it too many favours. While its off if you would like to a make a jig from it then the offer is there !
