Just a quick update - after spending the whole day on the road from Lime Acres in the Northern Cape to Gauteng via Bloem, Danie arrived safely tonight at the farm between Meyerton and De Deur where they will shoot the first scenes tomorrow. Marilize and I drove through late this afternoon to go and say hi, and I met some of the film crew - a bunch of nice guys. They are all very excited about the arrival of the Kubel. Danie will sleep in the Formula 1 hotel in Vereeniging tonight.

The barn in the pics below will be used in some of the scenes (sorry, no Splitties or Hebmullers inside - I already checked! ). According to the scene in the movie script the crashed RAF pilots will hide inside the barn, and two SS officers will arrive with the Kubel outside, and then arrest them.

Danie will spend tomorrow on the set and has promised to take a lot of pics. He does not have Internet with him, but I will get the pics later. Unfortunately I won't be able to be there myself, but if anyone wants to go and have a look tomorrow, I am sure it won't be a problem. The coordinates of the farm is
26˚ 29’ 50”S 27˚ 57’ 43.6”E - if you want to call Danie, his number is 083 291 1284, I am sure he will enjoy some ACVWSA company! If anyone plans to go and say hi, PLEASE take some more pics?

 On comedy night last night:

"Is you life much different now that you have kids?"

WTF? That's like asking a Japanese, "Is Hiroshima much different after the war?"

Update

Just spoke to Danie on the telephone - they had a very exciting day in De Deur, and several action scenes were shot this afternoon in which the Kubel was used. He is currently at a guest house in Pretoria East, and will leave early tomorrow morning with the Kubel to a site near Fourways where some more scenes will be shot. The coordinates for tomorrow's shoot is 25˚57’53.3”S 28˚01’08.4”E - if you want to call Danie to go and say hi, his number is 083 291 1284.

He took several pictures with the camera today, but sent me this one by MMS - I will post the others as soon as I get it!

Got an sms from Danie at around 16:00 this afternoon - he arrived safely in Bloem after towing the Kubel through this morning. Apparently they had great fun at the set yesterday, with some action shots using the Kubel and sidecar BMW motorcycle pictured above. Some real 'shooting' with authentic WW2 guns shooting blanks was also filmed. Danie will return home to Lime Acres tomorrow, can't wait to see the other pictures he took!

Once again a HUGE thanks to those few who contributed to the fund to make all of this possible, will let you know when the movie will be released.
