Hey Mince,
Saw the car this afternoon. She is a real Beauty
It shows us what to strive for and a taste of what could be.
Enjoy the day and have a bugging good time...

Re: Beetles needed for a friends wedding - PICS ADDED
What a lovely day Saturday turned out to be.
I woke up early in the morning (10:30am is early on a Saturday), to drive to GRAND SLAM in Somerset West from my flat in Vredehoek, Cape Town.
Arrived and finally got to meet Esme, Stanley and Jurgen. Great bunch of people. Was treated to a rad German Sausage roll with mustard and was giving a tour of the workshop by Jurgen. Was drooling over his lowlight Ghia and his '58 beetle.
Outside were the wedding cars. All clean and pretty looking. And the one was a gorgeous 1956 oval.
Es and I drove from Grand Slam (she drove the oval, I drove 'Mary') to the bride and bridesmaid in Plattekloof and then drove them to the wedding in Bellville. Mary was the brides car. Es had the passanger seat removed for the wedding dress to have no issues, and the reason why she was the wedding car is because the mother of the bride has one exactly like it when the bride was growing up. She loved the beetles!
We witnessed the ceremony, had something to eat and drink, mingled with friends of mine who got to meet Es, and then we swapped cars and drove back to Grand Slam to put them safe and sound in the workshop. It was a great drive filled with passers by hooting and waving with smiles on their faces.
Thank you Es and Jurgen for all you guys did to make my friends (the groom) wedding a special one.
Here are the pics I took with my phone.

Re: Beetles needed for a friends wedding - PICS ADDED
SO, after fighting with my computer, camera and photobucket for a whole week..........
Here is some more of the story behind the story
After ALL the bribery and corruption and MANY promises made, we were FINALLY all set up to get the "Bride" to church on time
-
Like THAT ever happens
After spitting and polishing the "Ladies" all day on Friday, we were finally ready to roll.
Art arrived "Just in time for the traditional "Grand Slam Saturday Brekkie" (thanks Frank, your legend lives on
) Where he nearly "Plutzed" when he got into the shop and saw all the lovlies that we have here - I have to honest and say, I thought either a doctor OR a LOT of Kleenex was going to be needed - SO great was Art's Excitement
Here art and Juergen are having the final word on the Do's and Dont's for the day!

And Art with "Mary"
Then we went back to my house to get "Ready" for the Big Adventure ! You can't believe how well Art cleans up - Suit and all
Then we were off!
An eventful drive as we had all sorts of people hooting and waving at us - we caused quite a stir in the "Ladies"
At last we got to the venue where we were told to be at 2.30 to be at the ceremony for 3pm......... We left the venue at 4pm
Here are the ladies in WAITING
We waited SOOOOO long that even a ladybug came to check out the beetles

And then the BIG moment arrived - the Bride and co getting very excitedly into the "Ladies"

And the Bride in "Mary"
Art has given you the photos of "The Ladies" at the venue where after the ceremony and some general mingling, we had the discussion about driving home.......... I thought that our Art was going to
in his pants when I said he could drive "Miss Kitty" back home - he first jumped around
like a monkey on fire and then - he got a little nervous
at the RESPONSIBILITY of driving such a unique car all the way back to Strand
The drive back
All safe and sound, and then back to my place for A LARGE DRINK and German Goulash - just to settle the nerves
All in all, it was a super day for us all - the wedding went off extremely well, Art and I became friends and Juergen, well ..............

He just took the whole thing "Lying Down"
Once again, it was a pleasure for us at Grand Slam to be of assistance to an ACVWSA buddy - we look forward to the next adventure
Juergen & Es
