Well, I like to actually DRIVE my vw's - not just look at them, low is for sport cars like porsches and lambos and the like !!

Low is also for giving a sportier look to your standard car

ive tested how low i want my beetle some day,

I put 2 bags of cement under the front lid and that looked pretty, i like the ass up in the air

I'm gonna lower the back of my car, cause the traffic officer said my car is leaning to the front like a dragster , and my car sounds like a dragster

Okay, this post has been quiet but I have to ask..... I bought the new speed n sound, and it is all about stance... and lowered cars... So if they advertise Low cars in Cape town, how can it be illegal lower you car??

you can advertise anything you want... owning it may not be legal.
If you only drive the car on the track or trailer it everywhere, then it doesnt have to be road legal.

But check the new speed and sound.... That is those guys daily drivers.

Doesn't mean it is legal. But the law is fuzzy. And is seldom enforced to the letter in any situation. Which is a good thing. Or can be.

Most of us exceed the speed limit, have one (yeah right) too many and get behind the wheel at some point, light up a joint, drive in the right hand lane, watch American Chopper, or some other crime........

You want to drive a low car, a fast car, a rusty car, whatever. You can usually get by. Just don't take the piss.

I remember being told that speed bumps may not be higher than 100mm (10cm or approx. 4 inches in the old money) so a minimum clearance of 125mm (approx. 5 inches)would make sense to me. Cannot verify this right now though, sorry.

Barry is correct, the cops will not stop you normally, BUT if you have to slam on brakes for a speed bump, and take 10 minutes to get over it, with 30 cars blowing hooter behind you, or you need two weeks to get over a curb entrance,and hold up the others, forming a traffic jam, that cop will book you..

Moral of the story, don't make your car so low that you a menace to other drivers, and hold up others that hate low cars, just because you like them.
