My current insurer, that handles my other car, and house, is not interested to insure my bus for 3rd party liability.... they dont even have it on their system !!

Have I mentioned I hate ALL insurance people equally? They are ALL crooks ! :jerkoff: :bn:

amen........I can always forward you the details of my guy if you want to go through Hollard and they will insure the bus as well on 3rd party. (he's PTA based)

Just to give you an idea.

household contents - R450 000
Isuzu Bakkie - R79 000
Honda Civic - R74 000
Speedster - R100 000 3rd party
specified music gear and wedding rings - R150 000

Premiums......R1400 a month.

We've claimed 3 times in total over about 5 years........zero issues.

Thanks flatfourfan, that could help a lot. I just hate it ssOOOOOOOOOOOO much to talk to these insurance people especially their call centre idjits !

Only good thing with my current insurer (virgin money) is that I have no excess for damages on my Nissan if it exceeds R5,000 - now just a fender on my cabby at agents cost more that that !

Stupid question, what if someone hits your beetle, and the repair value is more than the cars' value???
We are insured through Outsurance and paying roughly R180-200 a month. Book value is R6000 i think.

Do they fix the damage of say R15K, or do they pay you out the sum of R6000?
Because the damage is worth more than the car?

Sorry for the stupid question but never claimed and so on..

Thanks!

The bad news is they start with the R6000 that you covered for, then deduct things like access, under 25, drivers less then 5 years, and, ....and,.....and.....
Then you get the smaller amount AND they take your car and sell it at auction.

It a cruel world out there........

Always try to get it valued high, so when its all deducted, you get a decent value out.

With Bal. of 3rd party, you get nothing, you keep your car, but they pay out the guy you hit.

i'll argue with you there Herman. when i wrote my GTi off, the excess etc was paid seperately. car was worth 35k+, but book value said about 14k. damage was more than 70% of value, therefore not economical to repair. so they pay u full insured value and u "buy it back" from them at 30% of book. end of the day, i paid excess seperate, they paid out +-9k and i kept the car.

will agree with getting the car properly valued by sum1 like Pierre to avoid those kinda headaches from a bumper bashing....
