Busy planning dash ..after 2 weeks chilling with wife and daughter ..
Did research on the engine which will be dropped next weekend
It is a 1600 twin port ..seems she was transplanted some time back..
Any how ..that's great news for me ..
I got these rally clocks which were used in 1970's rally cars..
I plan to mount them on the dash in place of the radio..

The HEUER one's are really nice. They came out in some nice forms and the models. Most common one's were the Hanhart that came in a dubble and the triple display and the Aristo Apollo. One friend of my husband owns a exotic watch shop in Pretoria, and he had a Triple display Abercrombie up for sale for R180 000.00 The older, the better.

That Hanharts are acutely swiss made and they can get close to R1000-00 till R40 000-00 a piece. That is a expensive piece of accessory. Did you sent it in for assessment to check the dates on them? They look really nice!!

I have not had them date checked,
Was aware of their value being high but don't know their exact value -- saw some advertised on ebay for 4000 and 6000 euro a double set a triple was around 8000 euro, The Heuer were at advertised around 12000 euro and above for a double set and more for the triple ---

The made in Germany - was what made me think they would suit the Bug - and give it a rally theme...
They are well looked after and they work 100% still, extremely accurate aswell....
I don't think many people know their value here in sunny S.A. & with no radio in the car - I hope to reduce the break in possibility -
I've been asked - "why you got 2 cheap clocks there, wheres the radio ? " already while having the battery checked this morning- so I think unless its a petrol head -
who knows rally clocks and their value - I am pretty safe -
but I will make sure I insure them just in case --- Any Idea where I can have them checked - valued ?

knowing their value, I would rather make them a feature inside the house
They will never be covered by insurance if left in a car.

It's actually Swiss-German. The owner and designer was swiss and moved to Germany later. "i think the case why he moved was because of war". Did you know between 1850's and 1930 and 1940, the Americans were actually one of the best watch makers with precision accurate pocket watches.

I will rather make them a nice collectors piece in my house. Give Luxury Time a call on "0 one 2 nine 40 one 05 five" and ask for Adriaan Rootman. He will assist you with that nice time piece.

Ok, just spoke to Adriaan, and he said he is more in the wrist watches. There is one person in capetown that i use in to work on my watches and my dad watches. Will ask him and show him the photo. Most of the history is found in the back of the watch when they open it.

Good luck and let us now if you found something on that side on that super nice time pieces.

Bug back at panel shop to do snag list on the paint work
While she's in .. I am building an engine stand ( Wood) so I can sit and work on the engine once she's out soon.
Hip replacement makes standing and working .. Painful after a few hours ... So I decided to make a movable (on wheels) small engine stand, that I can sit in front of and work on the engine and when I need to move it around I unlock the wheels and move it.
Will post pics .soon
I got the wood all knocked together today ..tomorrow I will add the base with wheels and if I can find a rubber sheet to put on the table top .. This will follow then paint her ..ready for use when the bug is back...
