Thanks Haans,
I am privileged to have this car in my custody for the time being.
Unfortunately I do not have those skills, but I really admire people that can do it. Please teach other youngsters those skills. It must be preserved and cultivated.

OK, so things are developing slowly but surely. The Beetle is coming along very nicely. The painting process is not too far in the future. The pan is also getting special attention.
I'm quite excited.

Hi Tony,
One of the quirks of the splits were the inspection hatches for the gearbox in the luggage area in the back of the car. They stopped this very useful feature in June 1952. Some companies press the cover for these hatches. Luckily this car still has the original.

Re: 1952 VW beetle project.
Hi guys and gals,
This restoration is on a roll now. They started painting today. I'm really thrilled.
The chassis were also massaged and were properly repaired by a specialist metal man. There is still 2 or 3 things that need some attention on the chassis, but that will happen in the near future.
Have a great day.
Rudi

Re: 1952 VW beetle project.
Nice work, and you will find that with so much metal work, you may have to twist the body as well as the chassis, to get them nice and strait.
make sure you do that before you fit the body, or you will have a car that crabs, or handles like a dog.
You welcome to look at my 1952 project thread how I did mine..

Re: 1952 VW beetle project.
Hi 73type2,
The Vin plate indicate the colour code as "B301". But that code cannot be traced in VWSA records. Those records are not available or they do not have them any more.
The 1952 German manufactured cars had a code L11 as pastel Green. But that colour is darker than the colour on my car. So we had a conundrum. The panelshop suggested that we mix the colour from a section of the car that was hidden away from sunlight and the outside. They spend about five hours and mixed up this colour. And I think it looks stunning.
They finished painting the outside this afternoon.
