At the George car show, there was a fellow selling some old Car magazines. I grabbed a few.

In one of them, November 1974, I found this article.

Here is the exact model as mine. 1975 year model in Autumn Rust colour.

4K in 1975 was already a lot of money. Strange though, that as far as I'm aware, 72 and earlier buses, only had sunroof as an option on Delux/Executive cars, where it seems here it was not the case?

My Flame orange baywindow is 1975 sunroof Microbus. I have come across quite a few Microbusses with sunroof's.

I do only recall seeing the early bay deluxe's having a sunroof though, not microbuses. Don't forget Westy's are also sunroof busses.

Final touches being done now that I was unable to complete in the rush to get done before George.

This was the last issue I had to do and it was the chrome bumpers used on the executives. I "borrowed" a set from another bus to use on this one to make George, but had to find another set. Finding a second hand set seemed near impossible and the only option was that company in Vietnam that makes stainless steel replacements. The price would roughly be between 25k to 30k, so I was really dragging it out based on that expensive price.

I then purchased 2 new mild steel bumpers from Autostyle (Brazil import) and was going to have them chromed. This would have worked out complete at 10k, but the Brazilian bumpers looked the part but was quite a thin gauge of steel, so was not happy with them either.

Then a week later, I for a very strange reason decided to browse Facebook at work (I never do this at work) and this add popped up for 2 original chrome bumpers for 1k. I did the usual checks on cell phone numbers, email and street address and made the immediate payment to collect with a courier within an hour up in Gauteng.

They both had 2 dents and were very dirty and pitted with marks and old paint.

I had asked a few specialists regarding removing the dents without damaging the chrome, but had rubbish answers that its not possible to one that said he could maybe help me next year. . I thought businesses can help in hours, maybe days, but months and years??? WTF

So rather decided to tackle it myself. I worked the dents and then buffed the bumpers on my s/s polisher at work and they came out looking rather fancy.

Here they are.

Final touches, Mudflaps fitted.

Another final touch is the weight sticker.

Another beautiful bus. Those bumpers were another great find, and you've managed to turn them around nicely. Good job!
