Vader, it all depends on what you mean with a "club". I have been involved to a greater and lesser extent with a few varieties, the Beach Buggy Club, which is run as a club with AGM, fixed calendar, regular events, ranks, colours, elections, bank account, news letter, a charity event etc etc. I suppose no member of that club will begrudge me a weensy bit bit of credit for my part in setting it up as it is now, and it has it's advantages and disadvantages. If run well, you can get a lot of enjoyment out of it, and most members are long standing and do enjoy it a lot. It is a lot of work, but a lot of folk enjoy that too. It's a lot more formal than the next example. I was a happy member for many years and am currently an honorary member.

The Kombi Club in Cape Town, that's now Jean and them. By own admission, a rather loose arrangement of like-minded folks that get together when it suits. No rules, no commitees, no fixed events, just folks getting together. The only semblance of a club is that people have each other's phone numbers and contact each other for the odd event. Foot-loose and fancy free, what a refresher! The down side is it is difficult to plan to attend events because you seldom have advance knowledge of more than a few days. But the two get-together's I have been to were reallt cool.

ACVWSA is already something like the latter, with events being advertised and organised, help and advice dished out liberally, and parts and cars swapped and sold. Very cool. It is also national, even international, with members flying to places and visiting all over the country.

What is it that you are then suggesting, club wise? A more formal approach? More regular events?

The latter for sure... :hangloose:
Very loose, like you said, international, with loads of wine, whiskey and woman  quote "ACVWSA is already something like the latter, with events being advertised and organised, help and advice dished out liberally, and parts and cars swapped and sold. Something for the Mad F*ckers and Air Heads to let loose and do off the wall stuff, like Speed week, assaulting a difficult pass, dune boarding, scuba diving, jumping out of safe air planes, braais on the beach late into the summer nights, visiting others form around the county, George festival, KKNK etc... no committee, no :bn: just stuff to do with like minded people that are not your straight shooter airhead... People that would fit this group are Bugger, TonyZ, HR, Ron&Gill, Barb, Chris, and everyone else that has put their mark down...

Bumper stickers, T-Shirts caps with our unique logo.....
