Ok so its Sunday again, and yes we have done something on MeFusco.

We worked on the dash, to get the grills ready for the small gauges, and also made a VW 115 mm speedo insert for the new 85 mm GPS Speedo.

No the availability of 115 mm GPS speedos are very limited, and very expensive, can not justify spending R15K to get a speedo delivered with customs.

Also had to close up the hole the PO had opened up for the radio with a hatchet ( SA translation = Axe)

Measured and calculated a door card as the only one I had from the Beetles PO was well..... :bn:

The holes did not line up, the card was screwed down with self tappers, and all edges where curved incorrect.

He had glued it on to the door, so it did work for him.

Have some beige seats in good condition so I was thinking of doing the inside in a beige.

Well Beige and Black.

Till next week

Black tend to sear your 'buttnuts' off in summer!!, beige tou have keep a cloth handy to keep it clean,...and who want to be that neurotic !,😱
Sortoff neutral on the colours,.....some sort of combination could be very pleasing on the eye though !! Your call!!😏

Thanks Nick, value your input.

Here is the Speedo I so diligently striped, repaired broken gears,

and services ready for the great day to fit it to MeFusco,

but alas, it will not match the other gauges......

So here is a look at what could have been

(changing to a GPS Speedo was easy due to no front wheel cable drive)

OH well till tomorrow for the Sunday report.

Thanks for looking.

Yes, MeFusco is still in his garage, but everything has been cleared to do the move next Friday or Saturday, off to the workshop where he can be finished off and sprayed.

Now some of you may ask, why move him, well I do live in a complex and they will physically :bn: them self if I spay here, be run out of town like a rabbit dog...

Not much has happened but I will how ever show you my Door cards that have been readied for upholstery together with the seat, as the seat needs to have a small hole repaired and a bit of a twist added to make it match the rest of the interior.

Oh, and I will show you the Gauges that you have read about, but not all in the same picture, this you will see when they are fitted.

NOW before any snobs, or brand kings start posting that I could have got better gauges, let me just add....

When the Fleetline was overheating and I had to get a temp. gauge in fast, had to be electric because of engine distance, I ran into Autoquip and got an good looking Auto Gauge, fitted it and have been pleases as punch with it.

It is true, it does not have lag, and at the same time it does not wave around. Its just a perfect gauge, now I am compering it to the Smiths I had in the young days in my windgat period.

No, will not swap them at any cost.

So here follows the photo's, enjoy

Till next week....

So the Fleetline has safely delivered MeFusco to the paint workshop.

Now its just a matter of time before he is reborn and dressed in his new outfit, ready for the nobs and levers.

So in the mean time its getting the parts in to be able to get stuck in once he is home.

Till later

Thanks for looking

We have managed to get the rubbers for the Opel front disk brakes slave cylinders,

as well as the repair kit for the duel 20mm master cylinder.

The GPS speedo has arrived and looks very good with the instrument panel with the smaller 4 gauges.

Need to get the 5 plastic inserts for the (1973 Up) metal dash air vents if anybody has them PLEASE

also need one globe holder for the snowflake back lights fitting

And the late split bus/ early bay backlights both sides (oval shape)

will also need two wiper arms, the one with the hook at the tip, and screw hole to fix the base

Thanks

Herman

Yes its not Sunday, but had to post my frustrations with UPS that took 5 weeks to get 8 Weber Jets from England to Jefferys bay

Any way, managed to replace the old jets in the 34ICT Webers I got from Rui and will be starting the type4 for MeFusco in the next few days.

So here are the jets that took so long and the two carbs that they went into.

Till next time
