Happy to oblige Beetlefanatic.

The following pics were taken when I first had a look at the KG, about a week or so before buying it. A few things have been changed by now. The correct taillights have been fitted, the old Venter trailer specials were consigned to the local scrapheap. It has four new 3-inch wide white walls from Jeppe tyres and nice new dent in the passenger door from my wife's Touran.

It's because of that little incident that it's at the body shop at the moment - decided to fix everything while the wife was feeling guilty - new rockers, new dash, new headlight buckets and assemblies (it had an infamous Mini headlight conversion) and a few other odds and ends.

End result will hopefully be a Cardinal red coupe with a little surprise from IMPI in the back - will post more on that after I fetch it from him on Tuesday.

Oh yeah... flat, dry and dusty... that's the good old Northwest at its very best, especially at this time of the year.
I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.

Thanks for the pics. I'll be working in your neck of the woods from the 19th for 3 weeks. Suppose I'll see all the dust 1st hand!

hey guys n gals,
Andy here, new to this forum, new to SA and re-newed to VW's...

I think it's probably in my best interest to disclose that Im Aussie upfront !

now be nice...

Please dont jib me about cricket or rugby as I just wont get it, My sports all have 2 or 4 wheels and I lived/worked in the states for last few years, so any knowledge I did have left on those sports has long since drained away..

Anyway - Dubs....

when I was 16/17 me and a couple of mates wound up with a vw collection for a couple of years that went something like this....

58 beetle
57 beetle (which i still have in oz)
69 targa top bay kombi
early notch
early squareback
late fastback

the last 3 all had the back LH wheel fall off within a 5 day period - we were all very suspicious !

all these car (when not being used) lived in a vw heaven in my mates backyard which was populated by his big sisters boyfriends bus's - 6 splitty's ! a 23 window, barndoor panel,an immaculate tubbed V6 powered double cab and others....

so then I got busy working around the world, married etc and have just got my first dub in 15 years...

Got a 15 window split - fleetline - okay so she's no 58 one owner history lesson on wheels but she's a vw bus and a split vw bus and she needed saving, so now she's mine at least 1/2 mine, me and a mate are going to bring her back to life, he going in 50/50 with me financially but I'm sure I'll wind up doin all the work !

So thats me - you guys will se me in the post's with 'who do i see for this' 'where can i get that' questions !!!!!!
Thanks - Andy

Howzit, my names Denver, i'm the proud owner of a '73 Beetle South American import, i have just aquired her about 2 months ago and have been slowly getting her running properly and getting ready for roadworthy. She was'nt in bad shape at all, bought her and the previous owner already had the engine reconditioned, new gearbox, clutch etc. Body has some rust bubbles in the normal areas where Beetles rust, i have a 15 rim on it, back ones have been widened and i have never seen a pair of rims like this on a beetle before (bear in mind the import wheel has a 4 lug wide 110 pcd, so kinda difficult to find replacements without importing or getting adaptor plates made) I also just replaced the ball joints as other Beetles have king and link pins so it was a bit of a bother finding parts ( big up to the guys at Volksieworld for sourcing them), i'm hoping to find other import owners on the forum so we can share stories and connections for parts and such, and if any of you guys can recommend a good body shop to get my car looking ready for the beach this summer it would be greatly appreciated.
i'm not interested in pimping it, i just want her to look new and run straight as it is my back-up / slash weekend car, i'll put some pics up soon, they are a bit dated but i'll keep posting.

shot!
Denver

Hello there guy's. My name is Inba residing in Mthatha Eastern Cape. My business is Autotronics specializing in high end
custom audio. Hope to be of help to the forum with regards to sound. My other passion is all things VW old or new.
At the moment in my spare time busy restoring a 1959 VW Split Crew Cab which has a bad dose of rust. I have been lurking
in the forums for a few months and really like to be part of this great group.
