Aircooled VW South Africa

Hi,I'm Chris.I stay in PE.I have a 1.9 TDi Jetta and a 1.9 TDi DC Transporter.Most likely the best cars I've ever owned.Also busy with a 60 DC that I saved from exporting.Will post some photies as i go along and i am hoping to make it one of the nicest customs around.Great site guys!!I enjoy it thoroughly.Keep it up.

Great to see such an active local site. I live in Stellenbosch and am into sheet metal shaping. I've been at it for a couple of years now and have just put up a new workshop with english wheel, power hammer etc. I don't currently have any VW projects on the go (Busy with a hotrodded Austin 7 and other small bits & pieces) but plan on doing a volksrod soon - Hope that isn't blasphemy around here - if so flame away
I have owned a couple of acvw's in the past - 58 beetle; type 4 van, but am really not too clued up on the mechanical side of things. It looks like there are enough guys around who have the knowledge to help out though. I am looking forward to getting back into it.

As long as you dont export or chop a rare acvw you should be save and very welcome... You only have to worry about MTM (Merlin the Magnanimous) but even he is cool.... Now don't get a big head MTM (Merlin the Meathead)... hahahahaha

By the way what is an English wheel? Is it like a rock spider?

Welcome Barry, Just post a picture of your type 4 van and everybody will leave you alone. But as Vader says don't go hacking any sort of aircooler without prior permission from the "forum". You can put any radical motor in the rear as long as we can take it out and put an aircooler back in again.

Hi hotdog here. Just introducing myself. I am 34 years young and am married to amelia. We spend our time in halves.We live half our life in S.A. and half our life in U.K.. Amelia is afrikaans and i`m english. We have a 75 fleetline in S.A. which i have straight axled, bay disc front beam and a type 4 2l engine and in U.K. we have a stock 61 kombi. Currently enjoying english summer will be back home xmas time

its never too late... your yachting and my yachting are prob slightly different things. But surely you charter the odd yacht from the Royal Yacht Club in CPT. Otherwise join a social racing team and have some fun with them...

No need to charter am fortunate enough to have access to a roberts 45 for as long as wished.Just blessed i suppose. Whole family are now involved in the sailing industry due to no jobs in sa and a long voyage to brazil
