What type of steel was the frame made out of, normal mild steel?
We wanted a bit of flexibility in the frame and as weight was a problem, we had to do a box type system to get the strength.
So we used hot rolled mild semi HT steel with cold rolled boxing.
we could not use full HT steel as then we would have had to use rivets and could not weld it as it would get brittle and crack under stress.

Today I went to visit MeFusco at the painting shop, and was well surprised how well he looks now with his full primer.
He has been flatted and inspected and flatted and now with the final wet flat to get him ready for the paint application.
Now however I have a dilemma, .....
Not sure what to do...
Do I or don't I .....
Show you what he looks like now....
OR do I get him painted and assembled before showing any more..... ????
What to do ....what to do ....

There's another option- If they are doing the final spray now... You could show it painted but before assembly. (As assembly might take a long time.

You have a point there.

Looking good Herman.
Are you also putting lights at the back? Suppose on the rear fenders?

I like it Herman! I would've personally liked the front fenders to be rounder instead of having that ridge, but otherwise it's looking good.

Thank you, much appreciated comment.
One would think so but before I made the mudguards I did a CAD (cardboard aided design) and with round mudguards it looks like a Beetle stuck on a beer barrel.
Also the side view with the front and back fenders would look out of kilter, big round front fenders would also draw attention to the fenders and not the beetle body.
Let see if you still think so after he is painted.

You can try Goldwagen aswell
Up here in Joburg we've got a shop Boss Auto spares.
Their website shows these

But stuff shown on their website is not always available in the shop.

Thank you kind Sir,
Have removed the other cap, and it has a VW and Audi emblem, which makes me think it after Beetle age so around Golf Age.
Google named the part number as Rabbit Mk 1 which should be the Golf 1 or City Golf, but it does not look like the one at Boss.
Looks more like the Golf 3 but can not see the back of the knob.
Have no Idea where the seats originated from, but will look good in MeFusco.
Photo is the back of it with the part number 171.881.671 2
It has 6 mount points with 3 being guides and 3 being clips.
If some has or knows where it can be found, would be very grateful.
Thanks
Herman
