Thanks for the welcome guys. I have absolutely no plans to export anything - we have lost too many rare cars. (Friend of a friend e-mailed me yesterday from the UK, looking for a Mercedes Gullwing or Porsche 356(!!??!!) - sorry mate, if we ever had any for sale, they're all over there already :x   )
Type 4 and Beetle are long gone. I am in the market for an early beetle for the volksrod project ,although given the amount of rust I am chasing on my current build I am tempted to build everything from new metal - I hate rust. Repeat I HATE RUST.
If I was planning anything other than an aircooled motor, I probably wouldn't have come to an aircooled forum
Looks like I'll be OK on here then?

Yea, you'll be ok. Just ignore Merlin (MTM) and things will be OK.
Sorry MTM, you're just too easy to rip off.

Looks like one of my trips to Jonkershoek is going to have to be via your shop to discuss some of my idea and see if you can do them... Anyway, welcome to the zoo, its a friendly place but be prepared for our national pastime... hijacking

Hi Tony
Feel free to come by anytime - PM me when you want to. What's the project? Or is it still top secret.
I'm not really setting up to do metalshaping commercially at this stage - mostly for own consumption, but I'll be glad to help out if I can. I would like to demystify the process and get more people into it locally if I can. It isn't rocket science, and isn't difficult to get started and achieve reasonable results without expensive tools. (Don't believe everything you see on the TV shows - most of what you see is playing to the camera)

I know its not rocket science... I've done a shrot course a few years back and occasionally I have to get into the sheetmetal process again while modifying or building something that must look "smart". I just dont have any tools at home to do what I want done... no, not a secret, but not easy to explain either...

Hi All

My name is Timothy. I drive a 1977 1600 twinport...that just kakked big time. Should have it back in a week with new motor (with service booklet and guarantee) and a 4-1 exhaust that WILL have the heater boxes installed. Sadly though I loose my freeflow custom 4-2 exhaust that was built by noise boys but that's cause they made an error and the only way to seperate it from the engine was to break or cut it off. It realy was a fantastic smoke tube.

Paint and body work is next, then interior and the brakes. I have owned far quicker cars but this thing is my baby and even though it realy pisses me off at times I can't get rid of it.

Can anyone perhaps just PM me so that I can get the details on how to put up a pic under my name and ect...it will be much appreciated.

Look for to learing alot from this forum and exchanging ideas.

Hi. Corrie here. I'm new to the the forum.

I own a 59 bug striped down completely for restoration. She's going in for a spray job beginning August. Going to restore her to original 59 factory spec.

Then there's a 70 baywindow single cab. I'm redoing the motor on that one.

I've also got a couple of nice bits and pieces like a used 52, 61, 62 complete motor in a original vw motor crates, VW dealership tools and some NOS stuff.

My everdaycar is a VW Polo 1.9TDI sport. So it seems like VW is in the blood.

Till later

Welcome one and all to our little zoo filled with airheads of all type. It's informative, entertaining, knowlagable and ALWAYS TONGUE in CHEAK! The fun with airheads is endless and there is a huge technical section to answer any questions you might have...

And remember post some pic's for us to drool over... you choose where you want to post them... I like the seatcovers section personally
