First of all,it looks cool.

But what it actually does,it makes the gear shifts a lot shorter.Normally ,1st will be against the dash, and 2nd against the seat. Now it shifts from 1st to 2nd in less than 15cm.Works very nice.

The trigger also ensures that you don't get it in to reverse by accident. You have to lift the trigger up to put it in reverse.

The shaft is actually the same length. The pivot point is higher. So,when you shift, the movement on the bottom end is greater than a standard shifter, which makes the travel on the top end a lot shorter. :?

Hope that makes sense.

you get them for all sorts and from numerous manufacturers.
I got the newest of them all, from CSP and I am terrified to drive the car. I bought the "longer throw" version. and my gears are about 3cm apart. I would hate to see how short the short throw version is.

The CSP one is very nice, but very expensive. But there is Scat,Hurst,CSP,EMPI and Dragfast.
Shifters go from around $44.00 to $200.00.The CSP ones are over a R1000.00,excluding P&P and import duties of 40%.

Can anybody give me an indication of what the oil temp must be,plus or minus, when the engine is a normal running temp.

I have a feeling that mine might be running a bit warm, but maybe I'm wrong. All the cooling tin is in place, and the seal is there.
