Looking at spending about R50 g's to properly rebuild and rewire everything. I will do it myself. Been at THeSamba site and got really exited.

Just a quick hello! Am just back from 3 years in Brasil, and am really interested in getting myself a Splitscreen van and restoring it completely! Would love one similar to Jamie Olivers.

So if you guys have any information and or links to vans for sale, it would be greatly appreciated!!

I hope to learn a lot from you guys!!

Thanks

I am looking for info on building a Baja bug with a Combi reduction suspension in the rear and a decent engine with a Weber Carb. I am also looking to purchase a project Bug to do the same to. Are parts easly available and would I be able to run 33" tyres with this setup? I am looking for decent ground clearance.
Why not just come buy Ol' Betty? She lived in the Transvaal for a while (windows still engraved with the 'T' number), and then made her new dwellings in the Free State. I mean, SHE IS SOLID, and I suppose I could reluctantly let her go. '74 1600 t/p Type 1.

Sorry guys, I kinda already introduced myself at the "off topic" tread. Apologies.

Well I'm Jacque Wagner the owner of the Mk1 Legends Club which is still pretty young, so I hope my club will go the distance.

VW is my PASSION especially the Mk1 Golf. I believe there is no better car on our roads today, it all started with the Beetle if I'm not mistaken. Now there is a true LEGEND, the VW Beetle.

Hi! I just joined!
I don't yet have a VW or anything aircooled.

I am however looking to educate myself as to which Kombi/Microbus would be the most desirable, keeping in mind reliability and value for money. I don't require a fast vehicle, but good low end torque would be nice, as would reliability once the machine has been re-built.

A larger interior would also be desirable, so I guess a later model Kombi/Bus would be preferable. The vehicle would at times be used for camping.

The question begs... Which VW engine is known to be most dependable, or, is a 2.2 Toyota conversion a sensible option??? Should the consensus be a VW flat four, which would the better model? 1.7, 1.9 or 2.0 and which add ons such as oil coolers would be most advisable?

I qualified as an artisan during my youth and enjoy carrying out restorations. I am thus handly with a hammer, (and a spanner).

Any input and advice would be most gratefully recieved.

With thanks, Danny.
