Here's something which might interest you:

VW Type 1 exhaust heat exchanger fitment, in VW Type 3

This is a picture, I found in one of my old VW magazines, illustrating adapters available from the German Car Company, in S. E. Essex, England, enabling one to fit VW Type 1 exhaust heat exchangers & VW Type 4 exhaust silencer, to a VW Type 3 engine.

Products, VW Motoring, August 1999, page 76.

hi guys, im Marsh n im a Bug-a-holic :D
I live in durbz bt going to work in CT soon and will have to leave my car behind as im still not done with the total restoration and customisation.
I have 3 beetle all between 1973/1974 the latest 1 is from limpopo that my dad n I drove 28hrs to bring it home, its awsome n has no rust at all. parts from the other 2 bugs will be used to make 1 sweet ride.

We giving this baby a roof chop maybe 4/5 inches (got the donor roof) + suicide doors.

Nice joining the forum
keep up the good work guys
theres many awsome vw's on this site n once i learn how to i will post pics of my build

Why would one wish to reduce interior headroom by either 0·8 inches or 4 ~ 5 inches, unless the carparks only admit limbo-dancing cars!?! :? Judging by how tall some people are these days, raising the roof might seem more appropriate.

Hi there all

I am new to this site and to the world of Beetles. I have recently started a restoration of a beetle like the ones in the photos.
I am trying to find the chassis number on this car - i am told it can be found in three places

1. Under the bonnet - metal plate
2. On the tunnel under the back seat
3. On the dash board.

I have checked all these places - the metal plate is missing, There is no number on the tunnel and none on the dashboard !!

Is there perhaps a different place on this model for this number ??

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Im not to tall and I love the look of bug with the roof chop as it makes tyhe car look longer than it is. I also havnt seen a chopped roof bug in Durban as yet, guys here just cut the roof of completley
