Nice one Didi, it looks like new! Is this the one that goes in the popup roof?

That is correct, it is the one that sits in the poptop. It was sitting in one of the forum members garage. I went there to collect other parts and well, the rest is history. The condition of the canvas is great.

Could be wrong here but if that nut is in there for good, it looks as if someone fashioned a nice tool to remove the gearbox oil plug....

No, that is a Hazet VW oil change tool. 21mm ring for the sump plug, and 17mm allen for the gearbox drain/fill plugs.

Sump plug? What sump plug? I thought all sump plugs were after-market modifications of the sump plate...

It IS a nice find! Well spotted!

LOL! No, originally, ALL type1 ACVW engines had a 21mm plug in the sump plate to make draining the oil easy. However, at some stage VW must have realised that it also made it easy to change the oil without cleaning the sump plate and strainer, so the plug was deleted on replacement sump plates.

Not realy a find but a cool score none the less.

A mate dropped in for a barbe and gave me this cool wall mount key ring holder. He said he found it in a stall at a show.

Place for 8 car keys mmmm.. makes me think, how should I fill it?

Coool! I bought a Vespa one for a friend of mine, but the place (Rosebank Rooftop Market) didn't have a bus. Now I have to go back and look for one!

There was a type 14 KG of about 1.5 x 1 meter at last year's Whales & Wheels show in Hermanus which I missed by minutes. That would have looked very cool above my outside braai. Anybody know who makes them?
