Lets talks square weave carpets

I spent at least four months researching and phoning local suppliers http://rebtex.co.za/collection_sisal.php came very close, the down side the local carpets is very thick and this spells trouble.
Last year October I purchased a roll of Oatmeal German square weave carpet 4.75 meters from a company in the USA called autos-international http://www.porschetopsandinteriors.net, I paid under R4000 which included shipping and import costs which seems a lot, but every cent worth truth of the mater I was going to pay at least R1000 per linear meter for a local carpet. Please note German square weave is 1.8 meters wide.
I am not one bit sorry I bought the square weave it is quite thin very easy to shape/ mould and looks damn good.
My two cents worth, look at square weave imported carpet prices compared with local prices do some maths you will be surprised a few rands more can get you the real McCoy. I would also recommend a few members club together this will also split the shipping and imports costs.
The down side to import the carpet at today's economics is really going to cost you due to the crappy dollar /rand exchange rate, even so I still would do the exercise.

I've taken time last night to go measure how much carpet I need to buy to cover the Speedster, and it seems that a 2m x 4m (Belgotex comes in 4m width as per Builders Warehouse Carpet Engineer ) piece should suffice...and then I realised that I've not included the "Bonnet/Tank" area (980 x 460mm cover the Top/Tank area, and if you want to cover the Top & front section 980 x 820mm) - but I'm sure that it can still be cut out of the 2x4 piece:

Playing around with layout, you'll see that there are extra bits remaining, which can then be cut to get the "pouches" in the front on either side:

So the "FOOTWELL WALL" is the front vertical section separating the cabin & the Bonnet/Tank area - I've just put it down as a single section.
"PASSENGER FLOOR & DRIVER FLOOR" speaks for itself - this will obviously have to be cut according to preference if you want one single piece for front & back, or do you chop it at the seat rails...
"REAR PASSENGER WALL" is the bit below the rear bench seat, the vertical bit above the tunnel
"TUNNEL" - self explanatory.

I've used a roll of "Brown Paper" lying around at home to trace the floors to get a "pattern" to cut - but that in itself also brings its own complexities to the party - it did not shape well around the bends, whereas the carpets should take the shape better - but for the purposes of estimating what is required, this should suffice. I've also allowed a 30mm gap between the various pieces to ensure that there is sufficient space to cut and seam/line the edges...

This then translates to 8m2 and if you go the "Belgotex Stone Ridge Series" route (@ R159/m2) then the carpet should be R1272.

Hey Bossie,
I'm watching this with interest as I'll be doing mine when it's back from Spraying. Question. Are you not carpeting up in the footwells, and the side of the bodywork? And the side sills on the body? OR am I not reading your plan properly?

Yup, I read that too...............I think he means the kick panels. I don't see any mention of them in there. or is that the footwell wall that you have listed in there? 1.9 x 420?

Gary, you've got it right...it is the whole "Footwell Wall" as per the drawing - sorry boyz, I'm a Boertjie from Sasolburg, so the descriptions might not always be German design aligned?!? I've measured it from the passenger side, the front (what would in others be the firewall) and then the driver side - that is the 1940...
