Barry is correct, the cops will not stop you normally, BUT if you have to slam on brakes for a speed bump, and take 10 minutes to get over it, with 30 cars blowing hooter behind you, or you need two weeks to get over a curb entrance,and hold up the others, forming a traffic jam, that cop will book you..

Moral of the story, don't make your car so low that you a menace to other drivers, and hold up others that hate low cars, just because you like them.

I agree, some people just take lowering too far and they even hold up lowered cars, I do slow down for speed bumps I go over them at about 5km/h but that's what the law wants right? To drive slower...

If by law you mean traffic department, then no. They want your money from fines. And speeding fines are the easiest to get. It is not speed alone - or even primarily - that kills. But what is needed to make our roads safer is way to much PT to actually put in place. So targeting speeding is an easy cop out.......but I digress

Praise the lowered! Much hate against lowered cars in this thread, sad really...

I will only lower a car to improve the overall look of it. I don't like rediculous pan-scraping lowered jobs. They serve no point other than to be low. Which to me is really really stupid.
But then again, some people think a pan-scraping car looks good.
I have no idea what the result of my comment is supposed to be.

We can start a whole new thread with the effects of speed, and death on the roads, this is one of my pet hates.

If Speed Kills Why Is The Whole Of Germany Not DEAD. The only place with open speed highways has the lowest mortality.

You guys that believe lowering your VW improves handling need to read the chapter on handling in ' How to Hotrod VW Engines' by Bill Fisher. You're courting disaster...

I don't think I have ever met anyone who has lowered their VW to make it handle better. It is mainly for appearance and stance.

Got pulled over today for the first time with the kombi.
Traffic officer had a good look at the front and side of the kombi, checked the license and ask me for my drivers license, being all "professional".
He stuck his head inside and said, "sho sho sho you must have a lot of girls and big parties inside of this, ne ?, I like it a lot" followed by have a nice day.

I know the guys in KZN & Gauteng seem to catch some flak. I have never had an issue with cops at all on lowered, fenders, open motor or any of the other things you'd think might give them cause..... reactions are always along the lines of what Don experienced...

So basicaly the cops on this side of cape town are being asses to rip up peoples license for car being too low...
and I know they can do that, but honestly they will never be able to get all the lowered cars off the road.

That whole deal is all about trying to get a handle on street racing believe it or not.

So it's the ricers fault......!!
