Not quite... if I wanted all out power I would have gone even bigger on the cam and CR
I built this engine as a street engine / weekend warrior.
So I want it to be drivable and reliable while getting the most performance out of it that I can within a limited lifespan

Yes it makes sense
but i think I would take a std T4 and turbo that and spend the serious money on a nice FI system and
a nice upright conversion like Impi's conversion as to me that looks the closest to a T1
but that's jut my opinion not shooting down U'r engine down , I actually like strong NA cars
but turbo is so much fun

I know you not shooting my engine or decisions down.
One of my big reasons for sticking to the big T1 is to beat a few big boys at a track with a N/A beetle.
There is nothing worse than having a big $$$ car getting whipped by a beetle, with a beetle engine that is N/A.
Slap a big turbo onto it and everyone talks about it being turbo'd
change the engine and the first words out of someone elses mouth is that its got a such and such engine.

And in my opinion a beetle is one of the few cars that can come second in a drag race. Every other drag race has a winner and a looser, but a beetle (or mini) can come second.
Picture an M3 getting beaten by a beetle. His buddies will never let him forget.
Now picture that same M3 beating the beetle by 1/2 second. No-one will congratulate him for winning, they will laugh at him for nearly being beaten by a beetle, and the beetle will get the attention to find out what is in it. Then to see that it is what looks like a 1600 beetle engine... In this case the beetle came second and nearly beat the M3.
Put a turbo or a different engine in and the first things are "no wonder, its got a turbo" - lose, no second place for you.

Plus the sound... if you dont know the sound of 48's at full scream, then you are missing out

To me that makes perfect sense we used to go to the street races with an old GTS Golf
outside and inside it looked std
but under the hood a 1800 engine and g-box from a crashed rally car
looks all std and with the sidies sounds almost std idling
but at full throttle sounds like nothing else out there
the gear ratios were so short U'r at 180 in no time and the face of the guy U just beat
when he has a look under the hood PRICELESS ,it is like is that all ????
to make all his mates laugh at him more show him the engine before U shit all over his M3

I like your reasoning Tony but I will not be able to drop the Turbo I'm addicted....

I did take the fall and will be collecting my 2.0 Type 4 engine soon. I will probably install the Turbo on the type 4 as soon as I'm convinced it is ready and prepped accordingly. Can't wait though!!
