That car is progressing nicely Burly. You know you are going to have to come out to the desert sometime right? With dollars in your pocket it is dirt cheap!

FWIW I had a great meeting with Regardt Els who is driving this event. Really good to get a first hand take on things. They face some incredible challenges in getting this thing off the ground, and it must eat cash like nothing else! Still baffles me to hear people moaning about the cost, when the chance to experience something that really is unique is right on our doorstep. I really hope more people realise this and begin to support it!

My plan was to support it too but decided to get my car prepared better before I join and spent the cash to start with upgrades. Please keep us updated when you are there I will still follow the event from this side. Hopefully in the near future I will see you there!

For those who are going, how about listing the dates you'll be there. Always nice to know who else will be around.

Last year I went both weekends, with two different vehicles (with 5000kms travelled and about 60 hours thrashing in between to get my roadster driveable    )
Second weekend was dead last year, but it sounds like it will be the big one this year....
And the Wednesday holiday helps to spread things out too.

I'll be going the first weekend, but it looks like most of the Cape Town guys I know will be there for the second.

The VdubTECH team will be there from the 25th till the Sunday 28 and also heard it will big big the last weekend as we did plan to the first week but was informed that there will be international press. And that apparently there will be 12 tracks used. Every day a new stretch of pan not as the previous years only one track that gets raced in to powder sand. So sounds you need to come back the last weekend Barry. ACVWSA. Bugger, Bonny rts, Dr Watson, John Hoffe, Dixtoy, Steyn, Hein, Joggie, Les, + another 6 friends and we are taking 2 Beetles with

Second weekend definitely sounds like being the big one. (Not sure they will get to twelve tracks though, as the rocky outcrops mean there isn't as much space as it appears)

I'm not a great fan of crowds, and all night antics etc, so I think I'll stick with the quieter time...maybe even Monday/Tuesday...
