Wait, I think the "R10" is their bin location or something, the kit cost R415 Incl VAT each. I just got it at my local motor spares shop across the road. I am sure a bearing supplier should have access to this kit.

So I got the same kit from SKF (VKBA910). Before leaving I had a look and found that the seals and new circlips are all good, but the Outer bearing was incorrect. I could pop the whole bearing through the cup of the original. Will find out tomorrow why/what can be done.
Pity, thought I could assemble today but it was not to be.

So I received a fitting bearing and the original wrong bearing back in the box.

So today was to be the fitting day, but alas, not to be. After cleaning and blasting and then painting I found the the part that hoses the bearings must have been in an accident. The ear with two tapped holes is bent and is 4mm from straight. Dunno how I missed it until now.
Anyone have any ideas if it can be fixed or anyone have a part like this lying around?

I have also bought another bus. a 2000L Executive. Engine runs but requires some attention rest is OK. Bus has been in an altercation on the laft side so the panels are not straight. I have two options with this one.
1. Use all the parts I can from this one to get the Westy fixed including the 2000 motor probably with gearbox if this fits.
2. Put it up for sale and rather look for a better donor match.

Anyone know if the hubs of the Westy will fit the stub axles of the 2000L?

Oh, and I fixed the clock on the Westy.:-)

The wheels are back on and also found a vacuum pipe torn which was causing brake booster not working and motor running very badly.
Brakes are redone and she stops well. I will now need to look at why the hooter is not working and then try to get the RWC.
Once done I can start stripping and fixing properly.

Today I drove the Westy to have her chassis cleaned in preparation for roadworthy. All seems to go well although the starter has a funny sound after disengaging. Sounds like dry bendix bearing. Will need to look at that. But drove 100km today looking for a particular oil for another vehicle of mine. Quite enjoyed it.

Took the Westy for a trial Roadworthy and it nearly passed. Brakes and all good but it failed on three items.
1 Number plated too faded (already got new ones)
2 Side window tint too dark (easy to remove)
3 Believe it or not wheel alignment

So need to do wheel alignment next week and then the Westy is good to go.

Thanks guys,

Well hopefully, otherwise I could trailer her there.

Cannot wait to strip her down properly, that ratpiss smell is bad.

So now she is ready for RWC. Will only be able to go on Wednesday though.
New number plates are on, front window tint removed and wheel alignment done today.
After alignment she actually doesn't drive as nice as before. I thought she was perfectly aligned as she did not pull to any side. Anyway they adjusted the front saying the rear cannot be adjusted. I told them they are as I have read it in the manual. So now they want the specs and I can bring her back at no charge and they will adjust.

Anyone have the alignment specs for an Early Bay? Pllllleeeaaaassssee.
