Does anyone know what bolt and thread size bolts are used for the rear seat belt fastening points....bolt diameter 11 mm and thread?

Are these the same bolts as for the front seat belts?

If I want to add 3 point seats belts for the rear, is there a factory fastening point in the C-pillar and where? If not, where should it be located if added?

On all later Beetles and buses, seat belt points where provided.

Some on the back have a choice of lap belts and 3 point.

You need to feel over the upholstery for the holes, there is a thread that shows you, just search for it.

I haven’t removed the headlining, but it does feel as if there are holes there as shown in the photo Image

Thanks Tony! Do you know if the lockable petrol cap also used the same key?
IIRC on my 1st beetle I had 2 keys, the normal large key for the doors and ignition and a shorter one for the petrol cap. This was many years ago and can’t exactly recall.

In some model cars, they made the fuel cap different to the other locks, and yet in some they fitted am extra lever in the boot lock so when you go to the service, you can give them the service key, and they can not get into the boot.

Thank you Herman.

Seems the previous owner replaced the engine lid lock with a different one. The gas cap lock was fubar, which I replaced.

I tried to open the engine lid lock to see if I play around with the tumblers, but its lockedImageImage

the petrol caps on my cars are differently keyed with a smaller key.
The ignition, doors and engine lids work with the same key unless things have been changed in the past.

You may find that the owner has changed the lock, so when at service they only get the motor key.

You will have to pick the lock to get in, its not hard, just takes time, you need a two old type hair clips.

When you have it open you can change the tumbler to match the other keys.

Enjoy

So I’m slowly chopping away on the to do list.

The tie rod ends were replaced. Very glad I bought the tie rod/ball joint pullers, made it such a breeze to get the old ones loose.

Also had a look at why both front seats back rests do not stay at the angle it was set to. Replaced the spring inside the adjuster magafter. It seemed to do the job, its still not 100%. Will look at what else I can do.

Now I’m busy with the headlights. My fenders do unfortunately not have the factory brackets and I will cry if I need to drill holes into the fenders to add little brackets. So I have resorted to find an alternative means of fitting the lights with what is there.

Will post more pics of my solution. Image

Why do you need brackets? Do you want to install Golf I headlights?

Yes, I want to install the Golf lights.

Another option was to get fenders which already have the brackets, but it would have been difficult to get that by my wife.

Anyway, this way I have something more to keep me busy, to challenge myself and to better my skillsImageImage

Was there another way?
