Keith,....great box ! But a comment from past exp. you will be spending more time filling the gun than spending time blasting,....find that the gun with pipe into a 20lt bucket fillled with sand gives you a bit more blasting time.

Thanks Hans, I have noticed the media goes very quickly... Have seen you can put a connector on the bottom of the gun and then it sucks from a bucket as opposed to the little tank. Will be doing this, if it doesn't work will by a the suction one from Adendorf. Not too expensive.

Door made and installed. Just need to clean and seal the door and glass to prevent leakage from cabinet.

Rebuild project can progress now.

I also bought some etch primer and 2k paint to paint cleaned parts.

Lots of before and after pics to follow.

So it lives and works... Didn't have time to get the gun that feeds from the bucket and that's definitely needed. The tank on the hand held one drains in 2mins... So it's annoying but the cupboard works like a charm and I could not be happier..

50 % of the parts I had to restrip and re paint are already stripped.

Will be doing brake drums, backing plates, front beam during the week after I have the gun that draws from the bucket...

So a few after etch primer photos... Got the pedal assembly, spring plate covers and one drum off the front sand blasted and painted with etch primer.

Did the rear spring plates too but when I first started with the etch primer it came out of the gun like candy floss... Even though I followed the directions on the time is was way too thick... Will have to take those back somewhat and re-do...

Sand blast gun and case work well... But my compressor is a bit too small, so it takes a while.

I really like the end result and it is hugely satisfying to see these parts no one will see when assembled coming out so well....

I am doing the whole car... One Inch at a time.... I have my eyes on a few 200 Liter compressors. Just depends on how well I can negotiate...

Hey Guys. Need some kind advice please.

Got stuck into the front beam today and stripped it all the way down.

My intention is to replace king and link pins, tie rod ends, frame head seals etc etc.

I have hit a snag with the bearings that are fitted into the beam. I cant get them to budge. I don't really want to replace them as they seem to be in good condition.

The reason I want to remove them is because there is decades of old grease in the beam and on the springs that I want to clean out and I also don't want gunk getting stuck in them while I am doing the painting prep and painting

How do you guys deal with these stubborn bearings?

Decided to tape up the sides of the beam and get going with the sand blasting...

Also finished the drums and drum backing plates..

Will finish the beam during the week and next week is painting time...

Wow, you only get a true perspective of how large your blasting cabinet is when you put the entire beam into it without any issues. Well done.

I stand under correction here, but I think VW had a special tool to remove those bearings in the beam.
If the bearings are still in good shape, I wouldnt worry about them, just pack them with grease if you can before the install and then regrease to fill all the rest of the voids.
