Thanks
I hope so.
At this stage I'm considering to go silver on the body. Just a bitch to paint that colour though...

For now just a thin layer of primer will keep the rust away. I also want to seam weld the chassis, vw only used spot welds on the joints.

That is a fiberglass body. The doors, bonnet and boot is fiberglass as well.
You'll see that the roof is chopped, so you need to use the doors supplied. Volkspares sells the body shell with doors bonnet and boot for R15k. (At least last time I priced it)

fibre glass doors would be cool down at the coast hey matt?i hate when the bugs door starts rusting at the bottom.....4age do you ever think that volkspares will start mass producing this shell......like a beach buggy?cause then everybody could have a choped split.......
*starts studying harder so he can also own a choped split one day!!!*

I doubt that volkspares will mass produce the shell. The mould is not in good enough condition for that. There is a lot of work involved to get the body looking good.

but isnt there money in this?i mean splits are rare a hens theet and for 15k to have a chopped on at that....lot of people would want it....rather than a buggy (cant believe i just said something bad about a buggy) but you get my point....and its light weight and looks the shit...good drag/race car... maybe if people see yours one day,you could refere them and the intrest would increase and presto a mass produced split in any base color but no metallics....anyway awesome project my eyes are glued to it....

I somehow dont think the car would make roadworthy without a roll cage

Just remember, that's R15k for a unfinished body. You will probably spend another R15k on prep and paint only.
Roadworthy does not worry about a roll cage. When the bodt is painted and upholstered it will look like a original that has been modded. Of course mine wont have upholstary inside. Pure race car

Started taking off the pan halves. What a crap job... I'll use aluminium for floor board to save some weight and help with the appearance.
