Indeed. ACVW's does not have cast iron heads, so obviously it cannot have problems with "cast iron valve seat recession". Unless the guy who reconditioned your heads fitted inferior quality seats. Go to your nearest cylinder head reconditioning workshop to see the mess made by LRP inside the combustion chambers. These deposits cause plug fouling and knocking.

LRP was intended for cast iron head engines like Ford V6's and others. They are the ones who should worry.

My humble opinion is that LRP is bad for your VW.
Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.
Do'nt assume anything- (While doing fault-finding).

From what I have read, there is no real strong consensus. Basically all I read was, yes it is fine to use Unleaded, but then int he same vein it might not be good for your heads. Then others say, yes, use unleaded but every 3rd or 4th refill, use lrp. I dunno man, that unleaded stuff looks like cream soda. I just hope it is not like the new bank notes, I mean the other day, I had one R100 note that was a new one and 3 R200 notes, int he old style, the next thing I looked in my wallet and all the old R200 notes had been stolen, gone, no explanation, the only thing I can think is these new notes are stealing the old ones. Hey, suppsoe it could be worse,w e could have Malema on the face of the bills.

But, ja, anyways, I reckon I am going to run on LRP for as long as possible, have never had any problems with it whatsoever. This whole cream soda movement is not cool.

Nothing which is added to Unleaded to make LRP is needed for the health of your ACVW, ever.

Some stuff (oxygenates) which is added in varying amounts is potentially bad for your ACVW simply because it varies.

This is not my opinion, a guess or a thumb suck. It is the conclusion I obtained from researching articles, the references to which are mentioned in my post.

But hey, it's your engine, do what you think is best. If you're happy with what you're doing, and you like the results, don't change. I'm not here to change your mind. I only posted because I wanted to answer the original question.

I run unleaded exclusively and have also had no problems whatsoever, so I guess when they do take LRP off the market, you can safely switch, without fretting.
