We were all up showered & breakfasted by 10,00 & headed over to the pool we spent a few hours in & around the pool & then retired to the camper for lunch where we had pasta with sweet & sour sauce.
After doing dishes (how come it was my turn again?) we went out for a drive in Milly, we went to Millerhal where there is an ancient stone arch over the river with a waterfall underneath, we strolled around & had a look then went back to the van:-
When we left here we drove around randomly, briefly entering Germany at one point, as we were quite near the border. We drove through a small village called Larochette & we came across another medieval Chateaux. We paid 10 Euros entry & treated our self's to an ice cream each, the guy serving I think lived on the premises as his wife was also in the shop ironing, like most things in Luxembourg it was very quiet & we were the only visitors. We wandered freely around the ruins, a lot of the buildings had been restored to their former glory & the space was being used as an art gallery by a local artist, He also had a lot of his work displayed around the groundsI don't think I could afford any of his work though:-
After this we made our way back to Beaufort & stopped at a Cactus store to do a bit of shopping then we went back to our camp & had more pasta & pork chops for tea.
It was my turn again to wash dishes (its a conspiracy) then we followed our usual routine of playing card games, Uno & Yahtzee, we went to bed when the rechargeable light ran out.
Next morning after breakfast we headed to the village of Echternach where we visited the Roman ruins at Villa Romaine. We wandered around them then around the lake which was a long but enjoyable walk. There was a youth hostel here & lots of youths enjoying them self's on & around the lake. You could use their facilities if you wanted too (toilets canteen etc.)
We left Echternach just after 1600 & headed for Burdoff. At Burdoff there were some breathtaking rock formations, caves etc as it was once upon a time beneath the ocean, its well worth a visit.
There is a lot of climbing steep steps & walking involved, not ideal with a 6mth pregnant wife so we didn't go too mad & walk too far. Ideally I'd like to visit this place again for a better look when we have more time, at least I've been there though:-
We then traveled the scenic route back to camp, by now we felt we had seen almost everything in the area so would spend one last night at the camp site then head somewhere else, we'd not decided where:-
That night we talked & played games until the light ran out & we had decided where to go next.
The following morning we got up showered, packed up & had breakfast & were off the camp by 11.00.
Amy & Katy (the eldest of my daughters) had told me that they fancied visiting the Nurburg Ring in Germany because the Truck Grand Prix was on the weekend & they fancied watching it. As it was only 120KM away & we were so close to the German border we decided to head North. We got there by mid afternoon & considered staying at Camping Nurburgring but at 230 Euros for 2 nights we decided against it:-
Its an aue inspiring place with exotic metal everywhere you turn. stuff you'd normally see once in a month if your lucky were around in they're dozens Porsche GT2's & GT3's SLR's AMG's:-
We parked in a dedicated parking field & walked to the info centre & enquired about driving around the ring. The staff were very helpful, spoke good English & told us what we should do. Basically we had to drive around to the Nordshcleife line, park up & purchase a Ring card from the main office. We decided to look around the info centre & return to use it the next day:-
