Hi Airheads!

My name is Juan and I am based in Cape Town. I got my 1962 Beetle just over a year ago after driving past it and saw it was for sale!

I always wanted a Bug after my brother sold his first car, a early 70's Beetle, we took it apart sprayed it, and then he got children and went for the conservative route and got safe reliable cars.
Now that I've got mine he also wants one again....and i'm just waiting for him to snap under pressure!

After getting to know Dave and Shawn at FFR and meeting some more mates with the same interest I got bitten by the whole air-cooled bug and for me there was no more turning back.
I knew about some other clubs in Cape Town but thought it well to start a page on Facebook under the brand "Air-Cooled Culture" ( https://www.facebook.com/pages/Air-Cool ... 8351858497 ) to form another establishment for people with the same interest, and maybe it is good to work some friendly competition into the Cape Town Beetle scene for possible "Bug-offs"etc etc. The facebook page is also full of web-links of valuable information and other amazing videos of our beloved VW's! I also find that news reach people faster than being registered on a internet page, though I think this hub is great!!!

Obviously it will be cool to arrange some events together with other Beetle clubs, so I would like to come into contact with some of the organizers of these clubs and institutions.

On the facebook page I have stated that it might be a good idea to convoy to FFR for their planned open day at the end of July. I am also in contact with a guy which knows a couple of people with Kombi's, so the two of us will try to get our friends to meet at a mutual place from wherever we convoy and meet at a central spot and convoy from there to FFR.

Hopefully the turnout will be great! Hope to meet all of the fans in the Cape Town area there!!!

Also a new-by, i live on the West Rand, Krugersdorp and when it is time for the boys to get cars what more do want than a Beetle to give to them. I am a qualified mach and auto elect but is off the bench for the last 15 years. So lets get back to the basic's. Already got 2 complete Bugs and a stripped pan. One is in very good shape and standard, that one will stay as is. Just had a long stand, still got the T-number plate. Bugger had also done a gearbox for me and he recommended this forum. Looking forward to the first meeting my family can join in with our Beetle. Thanks for a great forum. Will start doing photo's in the week.

Hi VW Lovers. I am Livingstone Ssebbanda from Namilyango Uganda , an Hours drive from Kampala city,CAPITAL of Uganda. I own a 1978 VW Beetle and I am looking for a download copy of Haynes Workshop manual 1954-1979 model to assist me in ordering the parts to use to repair it and make it roadworthy again. Any ASSISTANCE will be highly appreciated.

hey all, newbie here.

I live in Cape Town and became the proud owner of a dark blue 76 Super Beetle a coupla days ago after driving front wheel drive plastic boxes for well way too long.

Sadly it got clipped by an 18 wheeler as I was collecting it though Luckily its repairable, but unfortunately its going to set my maintenance and upgrade schedule well back! At least this means that the rust will be sorted at the same time as the repairs.

It takes only one look at the curved windscreen and bonnet to make me realise that it deserves to be kept alive! - I'll wait for the body repairs before posting any pics for obvious reasons...

The one thing that I regret the most is selling my Beetle. It was a 1300, nothing fancy about it Beetle. It was the car that I drove, when I met my girlfriend, it was the car we drove back from the church with, after getting married. Compared to todays entry level cars, it was a cart horse!

But driving it, I felt alive. It always delivered more than you asked to do. I pushed it harder than I dare push a car today and it just kept on going and going!

Hi everyone, my name is Sean, im from Cape Town and just love VW Splitty's. I lived in the UK for 8 years and have recently come home permanently and have always wanted a Split since my first adventure to Cornwall, UK in my mates 66 11 Window Split. Ill drop a photo of it shortly. I was kindly introduced to this forum by member Paul from Cape Town (thanks) who said this is a great place to network on all things VW.If anyone knows where i can get an 11 Window Split, chassis only or a 15 Windows Deluxe i would appreciate it. Either German or Brazilian. Im looking to get more involved in the VW scene here as it was huge in the UK but im not to sure how big it is here in SA. Im currently driving a VW 1.9TDI Jetta 2002 which i absolutely love and would like to add a Splitty and a Scirocco to the list one day.

Hi guys. My name is donovan. I have 1976 vw beetle 1500cc that i bought for R4500, its running nicely but needs serious restoration in terms of looks and electronics. This is my last year in school and ive forced myself for the past 2 weeks even though i had exams to spend atleast 2 hours a day on the car.With limited cash ive only been able to fix the window wipers, buy indicators for the front, get new valve caps and a new gear knob.

not much, but atleast its something.

any help on restoring various parts of this car would be helpful, especially when it comes to the wiring in the bonnet of the car and indicators,brakes,etc.
