Isn't technology just amazing? I'm just back from dreamland - went to bed too early last night, awake now.

Tony, are there strict speed limits in the Suez Canal? What was the toll fee?

Karma, I'm looking forward to your story! :hangloose:

Just a tip - especially when posting long, exciting stories like that - COPY everything before you submit - the site is on and off tonight, we don't want you to lose your hard work!

No idea what our fee is, that has nothing to do with me. I did advise the Captain to get a minimum 100 cartons of Marlboro red as "baksheesh" (gifts or bribes however you want to put it - the only way things work here). Just getting into the canal cost us 40 already.

We travel in convoy thru the canal. North and Southbound convoys leave at specified times. Canal isnt wide enough to cross each other, but there are 2 lakes near the middle where the convoys cross. So I think the speed is dictated by the time of starting and time each conoy needs to be in the lakes.

Goodnight, Pierre - groete vir Renay en Colleen

I just Wiki'ed the Suez Canal - a lot of interesting info there, it seems like a feasiblilty study on building the Canal was already done by Napoleon in 1799!

Wouldnt the timeout be on your side? I usually get it in JHB when the net is up to its usual vodacom speed (fork all bits per second).

I have not bothered to read much about the Suez... shame on me.
Busy with paperwork... yay. Nothing like it to stay awake.
