Gud evening people,
Its great to find all this interest, info, help, adventure and politics re: V-Dubs right here under my nose.
Thanks to SuperFly that introduced me to the site - so here I am...and hopefully here I will stay.
My name is Adriaan, and I reside in Durban,KZN. I have been an avid V-Dub fan since I was at Varsity in Pretoria when I bought a very beautiful 1969 imported Beetle. It was Metalic Red, with Honda Prelude semi - leather seats, console and chromed and detailed 1600 single port engine. Unfortunately I rolled the car not long after I got it. Fortunately thou I had it fixed up and fitted white 8 Spoke Empi mag wheels.
I then went on to fit a ported and balanced 1600 twin-port motor, stage 1 cam and 4 into 1 Cowley exhaust. She was a buzzer and cost allot of study loan money. Eventually I blew the motor due to poor ignition and then ended up selling it as a trade in for another vehicle that would be more reliable.
I was quite involved in the the Jakaranda Beetle Club with then chairman Werner Ahlker.
I find myself in KZN now for the last 5 years. I have inherited my Great Grand father's 1974 beetle. I am currently trying to renovate it to German spec with a nice hot street 1914 twin carb motor.
I have opened a shop called V-Dub Sports and Accessories with 2 other partner mechanics. I sell all parts and accessories for Air-cooled and water-cooled V-Dubs. I am looking at specializing in fast and better V-Dubs all round with mechanical services and repairs available in house. So spread the word if you can...
Well, that me and I hope to chat often with all the Dub-lovers in SA.

Welcome 2bugme!
Watch out for eben,he is the spy amongst us.ZeroAxe is in cahoots with him,and although MtM plays the part,he is sharing the profits!
TonyZ is supposed to keep record, but is stressing so much he pulled all his hair out.Bugger will gladly weld your tank if it's got a leak, and Pine would like to sell you all the models he can.
Suzie is busy making a clock,a house, a baby and in his spare time likes to work on his beach buggy and DC.
Vader is butt ugly, and the last time somebody wanted to unmask him,he ran off to Texas, and is now crying cause he is missing all the fun.And please, whatever you do,read HitlersRevenge's posts carefully, otherwise you are going to end up driving to Stanford to buy his fav. beer.
