Hi the name is Jonathan. Jonno for short.
I stay in Vredenburg on the west coast (close to Saldanha bay). My love for beetles started when my aunty had one for years , then my mother had 1 and I have had three , well now its four. With my latest addition. This ones in the worst state of all the ones I have had , but I have taken it on as a project car , plan on juicing her up for the local westcoast 1000m top end drag , but I will be needing a lot of help , I hope i can get some here.
I will start a project post asap with my new girl soon.

I'm Philip Du Plessis, residing behind the Boerewors curtain in Protea Heights, Brackenfell, Cape Town. I was a first car Baja bug owner after finishing the Army. I sold Quasimodo after having some of the best times together and upgraded to an old Telkom van that was redone into a Panelvan Camper in my student days. From there on it was only Golfs that carried the brand, all of them with the exception of the Jumbo. My wife's current one is a Golf 6 GTI with that nice DSG gearbox.
Just more than 18 months ago, I was very surprised when my 17 year old son made it known that his first car must also be an aircooled Beetle. So now Gerhard of That Volksie Shop in Bloem is putting the final touches on the bastard child we spawned. '58 Bug with an oval rearwindow fitted - transplanted from an earlier model that lost a head on collision with a truck - '54 or '56 I think. Andreno VW on Villierdorp built me a nice 1900 to go in the back and we did al the upholstery and doorpanels in antique leather. Slightly droped on EMPI 5 spoke rims. Very clean look with no trimmings on the outside.
So now that we will one again have a Bug in the house shortly, I thought we should become part of the other Volksie fans out there.

I'll need a lot of help before I'll ba able to start threads and uploads and the like. Look at myself as the original computer caveman. But life forces you to make some small sacrifices - I'll ask my son to do it. However, if anyone is interested, you can go to
http://www.volksieshop.co.za . Under his "Gallery" and then " Rebuilts" you'll find my "Philip's '58" with photo's as we went along. We are nearly finished and should go fetch the Bug in late November.
Hitler R - if you ever want to part with that Ghia, please let me know! My youngest son - now 14 - has decided that in the light of his brother's choice his first set of wheels must be a Karmann. I can hardly wait for what my daughter (10) will request. As long as she keeps it in the family.

Hi there to all,
I have always been a huge vw fan. it started about 14 years back when i bought my first ever car which was a beetle. Fell in love with it and had it for about 3 years when i decide to sell it for a newer car. Since then I had a few golf 1's, golf 2 gti's, 2 caddy's,a golf 4 gti and a few nice beetles. The real passion for them started about 8 years back when i bought my first beetle to restore. It was a 1957 Oval. i stripped it down but soon realised it was rotten to hell. I sold the car as it was and since then had quite a few beetles, combi's and type 3's through my hands.
My cars at the moment which i have is:
1955 Oval (Restored)
1956 Oval (Black Original)
1962 Beetle Volksrod (with 2.1 Combi motor)
1967 Beetle Left hand drive (Original)
1975 Fleetline Split combi (Original)
Wating to hear on a possible 1960 Carman Ghia for sale (I cant wait anymore so excited)
I always have 2nd hand beetle parts available for sale. People can contact me for any type of 2nd hand beetle parts at very good prices.
My contact number is 084 872 8745
Thank you

Hello to everyone at ACVW.
I have just aquired a rarther rusty Splitscreen Fleetline from Fish Hoek. Some of you in the area (surf type!) may recognise it as it has been sitting outside near the beach for many years. It belonged to the 2nd Hand Surf shop and has slowly rusted away to a stare where it was more air than steel. I got her in May and have been working on her since. I will start a Project thread so you can see how she's progressing. I have wanted a splitscreen for years and she is my first VW. Couldn't aford a good one so I decided to get a rusty one and get my hands dirty. Despite her condition (really bad!) I smile every time I see her. Anyhoo, Hi and good to be part of VWSA. David

I took these pics of your bus nearly 6 years ago and it was REALLY bad then. I can only imagine what it looks like now, is it still running?
Sean's Fleetline was exactly the same colour as yours and also in a very poor state, you must compare chassis numbers - good luck dude, keep us updated
