Well Young Man, There is not much to say
Have been busy with my Salt-mine, and have become rather busy.
We are focused to get the work out and keep everybody happy, so MeFusco has to wait in the wings.....
Not much to do to him, mainly the cab upholstery, and then to drive my ever increasing circles around the house and neighborhood.
Get some kilos on him so we can find any niggles.
So till then

New project goes around the house in bigger and bigger circles as I do not want to walk long distance when it stops and you have to walk home....

Re: Retrovans MeFusco Beetle Truck Project
Well yes we did do something on MeFusco
Busy doing some CAD (Cardboard Added design) for the forth coming upholstery
Had to hardboard panel the two sides behind the seats as well as the back of the cab.
The upholstery will be mounted to these Hardboard panels to create a smooth plush finish.
Will take Photos when done

Re: Retrovans MeFusco Beetle Truck Project
MeFusco went on his Maiden run today
After taking a hour to get him out the workshop, due to length.
Run well and happy with the run
Not to happy with the brakes, still feels like air in it.
Something to work on.
But happy he did his 1st trip.

Re: Retrovans MeFusco Beetle Truck Project
As said before, Not happy with the brakes.
So we went back to Square one.
Removed the front wheels, removed the calipers, removed the brake pads, and removed the disks.
Disks and pads where cleaned with Brake cleaner, and the disks where ground back to clean metal.
The pads where sanded back to clean grey surface and refitted with the rest of the brakes wearing clean dry new cotton gloves.
Then to the back, where we also removed the calipers, pads and disks.
Also ground the disks back to clean metal after 1st cleaning with brake cleaner.
The pads where next with brake cleaner and then sanded back to grey surface.
Also refitted the parts same as the front\.
As it was getting dark, we will be setting the handbrake some time this week and doing a road test again.
By the way guys, the pulley is working perfect on the clutch cable, glade that is right.
Well till then

Re: Retrovans MeFusco Beetle Truck Project
With out much warning, my son - in- law pop'd in and said lets get MeFusco to the Upholsterer.
Never had him on a ride longer then 2 Km, so a bit shaky in committing to the 85 km trip to PE.
But the 3 of use took a vote and off we went.
He drove well , was some getting use to as the gears, clutch and steering had a totally different feel to a Beetle.
Also his turning around sharp corners took me back to my code 10 driving.
Once the nerves settled down, it was a great drive, the GPS speedo running around 100 to 110 kph
The oil temp. just perfect, and the power taking him up the hills without changing down.
Must say it was hell on the flu ridden body, as with no windscreen and rain during the start of the trip it was uncomfortable to say the least.
So here is the MeFusco 1st trip on record.
Enjoy.
