Imagebugger for letting us know where to take our volksie. Just it came to the crunch we could not even drive. her. We sent her with the AA 40m km free. Have been so impressed with vanden Brink motors. He has been working on the car for us. The rust under the driver seat was so huge , he claims that eventually it could have been tragic - the seat would have fallen out while travelling with dire consequences. They looking at a scarpyard and take from an old chassis. The rails where the seat sits, is in the section where it has collasped. The dealer has told us once that is repaired. will be good as new. They found the excelerator cable was tired with a showlace. Cant wait till she is as good as new.

Hello there fellow aircooled fans. I'm from Port Elizabeth but now in Cape Town for the last 6 years. Father owned Beetle Shop in Port Elizabeth since I was small so always been around beetle, combi's buggy's etc. Started doing drag racing with them, and did very well. Suprised alot of M3's and Turbo cars. Currently have a 2.0 Litre Beetle motor Beach Buggy, used to do drags with it and a '83 VW Gol G1 from Brazil that has a 1835cc Beetle motor in the front. Seems not all flat motors are rear mounted :D

Hi All,

My name is Alec, and I am the proud owner of 1978 VW Campervan. I am based in Cape Town, and despite donning the usual corporate attire Monday to Friday, I am a weekend hippie who loves to be around happy, positive people making a change in the world. I have a few technical issues with my baby, so I intend on scouring the forums in the hope to find some answers. Hope to meet some of you guys soon! Cheers, Hostey

Hi - My Name is Peter and I'm a VW - holic.

Proud owner of 1970 Karmann Ghia convertible, a 1972 Westfalia van (my wife's name in the log-book) and a 1970 Beetle (Daughter's daily driver) - oh and a Mk3 Golf Convertible.

I guess there's not a lot of hope for me is there??

Like your site - got interested doing a bit of research for the KGOC(GB) magazine about South African Manaufacture of VW's - googled John Lemon - and here I am.

Would be very interested to hear about any VW or KG related news from your part of the world?

Cheers, Peter

Welcome Peter,

We do have a few KG fundies here on the forum, but your best would be to use the "Search" block in the top right of each page to find out more.

Good luck

Hey guys,

Newbie here from "The Bay" Port Elizabeth! My dad is actually the one who's been actively involved with anything air cooled and runs a workshop and spares shop in Kimberley, specialising in, amongst others, anything Vee Dub!

I started on my project several years ago, when we obtained a 1962 body with a "vrot" floorpan. The car stood idle for several years and my son, now 18, bugged (pardon the pun!) me to build him a "slammed beetle". I must admit, I had to Google what that was.... :wtf:

Well we are now almost 85% there with seats busy being done and still looking for a L/F fender, as we discovered the one we had was also "vrot"! I have added some pics of what we want the car to end up looking like, as opposed to what we've done so far.

Happy bugging

Wynand

p.s. How do you load photos??? OK, got it!

The goal!
