I´m Miguel from Portugal, i've registed in your forum because i have a South African 1600L '78 beetle.
Some of his parts had been removed by the original owner, like the pop-outs, 1 rim, and another specific parts need replacement such the "soft" 4 spoke wheel and the dash. Hope i can get this parts from RSA.

Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Hi , My name is Matthew. I have recently purchased a clean rust free 69 beetle from a guy in Pretoria, I live in Hermanus Western Cape so i had the car trucked down. After numerous discussions with the seller and even a report from his mechanic i paid him. On arrival i noticed hubcaps missing, car not starting and oil leaking!! all the things i was told werent happening on the vehicle. Anyway my mechanic was shocked that the car still ran. Its crank pulley could be pulled off by hand and the bearings are damaged from running like that. Anyway i am looking at a rebuilt twinport motor from top to bottom with silencer new generator and free installation for around R7500 and he keeps my old single port motor. I hope this is a fair market price as i am paying him soon. Otherwise i am happy with the condition of the car as i like to keep it as original as possible. I would appreciate any feedback as i am still fairly new to the aircooled world. Happy motoring.

Hi there, my name is Diederick and I live in Stellenbosch. My father-in-law recently gave us his beloved 1970 Kombi Deluxe. Although the bus is still in a very good condition, some body parts have to be replaced. In my search for a specific bumper part, a very kind lady in Strand suggested that I should join this forum.
Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Hi all. Just bought a beach buggy (20 years late but ok). 1600single port motor. Runs great but leaks oil like crazy. Last time i worked on a beetle engine was in the previous century. Looking forward to getting her perfect though. Enjoying the posts. Thanks for all the info. Cheers, Leon.
