Eben, wouldn't you prefer I bring it back and give it to you.....otherwise you have the hassle of getting it from SA to the UK? In actual fact, I bought all my extras from Germany, Holland, Aus and the UK so I have just been collating.....the fuel tank is very special as it's a rare 15" size not the more common 14" one....even though they are far from common

Hloni, the small lever is for the NOS bottle
But seriously, early beetles do not have heater levers, just a heater "valve"
I am pretty sure someone must have used that for a NOS bottle somewhere?

It's not.....it's hand made, the fitter came to the car and it there.....
KK is 100% right. The knob is turned to let hot air from the engine come into the cabin or not depending on which way it's turned
