Hi Everyone! Another newbie here, and very happy to have found this group!
My first (road legal) car was a 74 Beetle 1600, which gave me years of good service, surviving the typical student escapades.
4 years later she was sold to another student, and replaced by a 1600 Fox.
My next aircooled encounter was with a 411 4-door 1.7L LE Automatic. Boot space galore and very comfortable, I must say.
I currently own a 1974 Kombi. I bought it two years ago, with a 3.4L V6 conversion (very professionally done). Overall in a very good condition.

Greetings all! I have acquired a 1971 bay window panel-van that used to be a builder's workhorse. It's well hammered and needs a lot of work to get it roadworthy again. I plan to do a simple camper conversion and use it on weekends for "getting away from it all".

Hi to all other "gogga" Fan's. I recently bought FIELA, a 1976 1300! Was a "dommie" when I shopped for my Beetle, wanted a 1600, the seller of Fiela, assured me she was a 1600, there was nothing on her indicating something else, and at that stage I did not know what to lookout for! After payment and testgrounds it was confirmed she was a teenager, (1300). Well, now I have her, and will love her. I do not want to tamper too much, like the originality... And a few months down the line, all the nicks is showing, even left me on the side of the road the other day, (new fuel pump, filter etc) then discovered a dirty fuel line....I did order the manuel, and will soon be her inhouse dr.!!!
groetnis
Fiela

Welcome
Please update your location in your profile.
As far as Fiela being a 1300, you never know, she might have been rebuilt to a 1600 at some stage, but left on the system as a 1300.

Hi there
I'm new to VW and new to Africa.
I'm a Welshman in Cape Town. I've just bought a 1977 VW Kombi here.
It's not the best at the moment. Needs some attention and unfortunately I'm not a mechanic!
I'm hoping to drive it around Africa.
My original plan was to drive it from SA to Kenya and back in a loop going up through Namibia to Kenya and back down through Mozambique.
Now I'm also considering driving it all the way back to the UK.

Welcome Gareth. Were you at HR's parking lot on Monday night with the Yellow bus????
If it was you I hope the bus is not cursed. Vader will explain.
If it was you, I would of said you were Irish. Oh well , whats a little bit of sea between friends.
Hope the bus is now running fine.

I guess that was me. Looking kind of Irish I suppose. Similar but Wales has a much better rugby team.
Kombi is a whole lot worse since it was tinkered with at HR!
Kombi is currently in a garage trying to work out why she's running so badly. They want to put brand new Weber carbs in there. Not even sure if that'll solve the issue. Also sound way too expensive!

What garage are you at?
Where are you based?
