Hi Guys,

Stumbled across this forum and I like!

My name is Larry and I live in Ladysmith KZN. Bought myself a 1976 Beetle which is in fair condition. It has passed C.O.R. and I dropped it of at the panelbeater for a complete teardown. Will post some pics of the project as we go along....

Hope to learn a lot from this forum and meet some new friends.

Regards

Larry

Hi, I am also a new member I recently bought a Microbus l 1973 model from an Old Age Home the bus is 100% original and in an excellent condition according to the logbook and feedback from the staff members that has been with the home for +/-30years the bus was hardly used the speedo reading was on 35953km when I collected it. I have since spend about R16000.00 to clean it and replacing all the platic pipes etc etc. My problem is that I run a Centre for Orphans & Elderly in Vryburg North West and that this bus is to heavy on fuel for us to use. The twin carbs is fantastic and the bus powerful but our Centre can hardly afford this luxury, the bus should rather be in the hands of collectors or you guys on the forum that is the reason why I joined to try and make sure the bus ends in hands that will care for it and appreciate the immacelate original codition it is in. I sincerely hope I can find an appreciative owner. Smous

Hi Everyone,
My name is Donnovan and I am from Cape Town. I recently bought a "74 Beetle and I am in the process of restoring the legend, however, as I recently found out that this comes at a hefty price, but I am sure it's going to be worth it in the end. I had a recon motor and customized exhaust fitted about a week ago and believe it or not, it was removed yesterday to be cleaned & polished up and have the double carbs and electronic ignition fitted. My bug is currently at the spray painter and I am so excited "like a kid in a candy store" to see the outcome, don't want to reveal too much until it's done. Does anyone from cape town know of a reputable person / company to do the interior over, but without them ripping me a new a - hole please. I am also looking for a windscreen, as well as the quarter vent sealed windows, want to replace mine which can open. I am hoping to have this project done in time for the Bug Jam on 6th October 2013.
anyway, I am sure that we will all meet one day soon at one or other vw car show or fun day.
Keep well and stay safe all you airheads.

Henry at Berg Motors might have the glass you need or point you in the right direction, 021 9304581 (Belville). He recently had his 2 front seats redone on his kombi, they don't look too bad, ask him for the upholsterer's details. Or if you are down Strand /Gordons Bay way, Grandslam might have the glass, 021 8456702, they also have a regular contact for their upholstery work

It's a 1975 1600 twin port with a webber carb and branches with a free flow on it. I got it as a birthday present from my parents and it needs a bit of work.
