Good day all

I am kind of new to the forum but have my 1970's beetle now for about 6 months. So still a newbie to aircooled. It's not my daily runner, it's more like my Sunday car. Wash on a Saturday and drive on a Sunday. That's the way the Germans use to operate in Hitlers time lol (I could be wrong with this fact), heard that by some1 else

Hi Guys,

My name is Anton and I am owner of '57 and '75 split window kombi. I also have a bug with rotary turbo motor.

I am based in Benoni area.

I am in the process of restoring both my splitties. The 57 needs a lot of work but I am willing to walk the road with it to get it on back to its glory.

As for the 75 panelvan it also needs a bit of work but it shouldn't take as long.

I will need all the help I can get. If you guys are willing I would appreciate all the help I can get. I have met a few guys on the forum already in person and we have great relationships.

Should any of you be able to assist with parts and knowledge it will be greatly appreciated

Best regards,

Anton

New Members - Introduce yourself..

Post by Salohza »

Morning All.

Nick here Salohza , Nic(holas).

On to beetle number 5 , 1971 1300cc daily runner. Have always been in or around Beetles for a long time, nothing special. Have the honour as a kid of taking a beetle from Harare to Capetown and back with my folks 2 brother and sister, back seat taken out, flattened out with suit cases and made into a bed.:) Recently my brother (Albert Smuts) started racings Vees in Libre and Historic. He's building up another for me , far more of a mechanic/engineer than me. Also a 1976 1600 which will be a project car , it runs but looks crap standing out side for two years (rust), possibly a rat at the end of the day.

So I have a beetle which could do with TLC ,another the rat( Back Street Betty) and a Formula vee.

Regards
Nick

Hi Guys,

My name is Ricky. I'm a newby as far as aircooled VW goes, but i'm an avid camper.

The Autovilla 'Dora The Explorer' was bought on a farm in the Karoo about a year ago.
She was very well looked after, with the original interior wood working still intact.
Because of the dry climate she had minimal surface rust which basically closed the deal.

The original air cooled engine required some work, but was at minimal cost thanks to our retired family mechanic.
I think he charged me 1976 rates.

I'm not looking to restore her to her original state, but to hippy-fy her with decals of daisies and hippy stuff.
I hope that doesn't upset the purists.

We have come as far as getting her registered and road worthy, so now the fun begins.

Happy Days
