Hi everyone. I am Evan Fraser (I hail from Roodepoort on the West Rand) and new to the group.
I've owned many a Beetle (1960's and 1970's) and loved my time with them but moved on to newer VW's as age and money allowed. Now I am getting on a bit and have started to collect and restore a few classic cars.
My passion has always been with VW and so I am going to start looking for a Type 3 soon that I can restore and pamper and then add to my collection.
Look forward to meeting all of you in and along the way.

Good day people of the palace!
I'm new here so I just wanted to say hey and maybe tell you a bit about myself.
I'm a 23 year old "kid" making his way in Cape Town. When I left home my mother said I could take her beetle with me. I was the only one driving babes anyway, so it wasn't a big loss for my siblings :'(.
I'm currently working at my first serious job and want to get my beetle into good condition, she should be around a while yet, or at least I hope so.
I'm very happy to find this forum, thank you to those who made it, and those who maintain it.
My beetle stands a good chance with your professional assistance!

Hi guys, my names Matt... I moved to CT from Zim when I was 19, hard to be a farmer when the government take your farm away.
I recently scored my first kombi, a 2L Single Cab (bay), Dove blue with just the right amount of rust.
My goal is to aquire knowledge from all the vw gurus out there, find a buyer for some of my limbs/organs, use money from said sale to snag a splitty and use said knowledge to restore my dream car. Simple.
Sorry I didn't see this thread earlier, I would have introduced myself before posting a "splitty wanted" ad.
Thanks in advance for any advice and help to finding a bus to save.

Welcome Matt, thanks for the Intro. I was going to suggest can your idea and just buy a Bay, but I see you have.. So my next comment will be, cool, stick with them, because for sure, the pricing for Splitty wrecks is through the roof buddy. I too wanted to have my Split van back that I owned 30 years ago, joined with high hopes, and felt reasonably stable financially, but the crap people try sell these days, and the sizeable budget you need to put it back into decent shape far out-weighs the logic. So, rather don't get disappointed, just chase good bays.. they are still available, attainable, and an all-round better buy these days.
Cheers
Al

Hi,...
i think? The last person to "introduce" himself / her seem to be in2005/ 6. ,..... Can this be correct? Ps I am quite out of the the water here,..."don't even know if what I am doing now is correct.
So. !! Don't hang me yet!!!!! I noticed that it is deemed "rude" to not to introduce yoursef,.... Coming into your lounge / garage without an intriduction could get me shot ! ..... Not?
Ok,..... I have a '60 ghia,.. All seem to be there,..and I will get my son to show me how to get a picture up loaded.
Will tell you more later

Hi Haans,
No we do not shoot Rude non introducers here, we just get rude back........
Welcome here and no this thread is back to front if you compare it to other forums, where they have the latest 1st and the oldest last.
Hope you have a enjoyable stay with us and swap lots of information, we love that, and if you want to scour some brownie points, just load your project thread with lots and lots of photo's.
Can not wait to see the Ghia photo's, and even if its complete, dig out your old photo's and get us drooling.

Hallo everyone. I'm a new member here. My name is Nico Roets and based in Bedfordview.
Last year I inherited a yellow 1978 2l bay window Kombi. It was owned from new by my late father in law.
It is in great original condition and the original engine is about to clock 200 000 km.
I took it to VdubTeck for some TLC and it runs like a swiss watch.
