I'd love to know what you charge for a full respray - paint and primer only if all the prep is done. Also, what brand of paint do you use?

Its gonna be a herbie 4 eva. Ive asked alot of questions on some other sites, and the guys reckon that over time the vinyl shrinks and pulls the clear with it. I would have loved to paint the gumballs on, but we couldnt get templates in time. It can always be added on a later stage. Thanks for the comments guys, Ferdi.

Do you have plans for making a 'fake' ragtop roof? I almost did it with my '67 a few years ago - wanted to have some vinyl cut the same size as a ragtop roof, stitched to simulate the 'beams' (closed position), and glued to the outside of the (steel) roof - I'm pretty sure that it would look quite realistic, and it is a better option than cutting the roof!

Excellent idea. If it was mine, i would do it. But it would look more authentic but be less authentic at the same time. What do you guys think?

at the end of the day if you end up doing it and later down the line neil gets his hands on a ragtop (it could happen) wont it be shlep to remove and wont glueing it damage that beutiful paint job??

Bugoff, I have been waiting patiently to see what the final coat is going to look like, and I missed it completely, until now that is.
AWESOME. Doing some good work there.
Keep it up!

hey there guys,
Ferdi is out doing himself, for sure!
Leaving the car as An original South African Hardtop! Would love the sunroof, but in this case, I will leave the car original!
The interior will remain stock as in the movies, would love an original steering wheel, just to finish it off, also have a set of Smoothies I will later widen for the Herbie look!
Thanks guys for all the advise about what to do. Will may be still find a sunroof one day and get Ferdi to "Cut and Paste"
Ferdi, what you mean still the clear to goon, it looks great already!!

Just to help keep you motivated......here's a few clips
Watch towards the end where they send a Herbie to the bottom of the sea....how could Disney do that
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 2978198070
And then this is what you will end up with and I think the work is well worth it..

Yes, it does look great so far, but its already been flatted to get some overspray and a run or 2 out. After the clear it will look like glass.
