Would you consider building full 356 coupe GRP bodies to sell? Or maybe rent/borrow the molds if they survive?

Some more has been happening
I have made a frame to fit the loose inner body moulds together so that they eventually will become a one piece moulding
http://s703.photobucket.com/albums/ww36 ... C00117.jpg
http://s703.photobucket.com/albums/ww36 ... C00115.jpg
The first moulds for the decklid is done and the first copy is in gel coat
http://s703.photobucket.com/albums/ww36 ... C00113.jpg
The dashboard is also being moulded as well as the sills as these need to be re worked and fitted before they can be used
To answer
Whether or not it is feasable to make more than one is still an open question. I am certainly making the body with future copies in mind. The costs so far is quite high with more than R7000 spent in material alone and as yet I have no parts. The moulds I make currently will not make a complete body as I am concerned in transforming A speedster into a coupe.
A proper production mould with only 3 copies in mind will cost about one and a half products price A mould for ten copies will use three products materials and would probably run me for about R50000 so its imperative that I do the research before going there.

thanks for taking the time to reply, really appreciate it! I've got quite a bit of grafting experience myself (industrial/product design engineer) and have been torn between a speedster and coupe till the GF suggested building a speedster with a removable hard to from a coupe... Or a coupe which looks like a speedster:)

anyways will see how things go with your molds and if they do survive, i'd really be interested in helping develop something more solid where we could both perhaps benefit.

Sorry for babbling on, great build by the way!

We're going to be going the speedster with a removeable hardtop route........it would be a shame to have this glorius SA weather and not have an open roof.

Well i'm hooked on the progress i must say. How you guys planning on doing the hard top split fastening system? And how will the finish of the sealed fastening area look once you've removed the the top?

In my opinion, after all the hard work, the car should display just as well with or without the hard top.

I had similar hinges on my covin, just needs enough reinforcement in the door and door frame .
You are doing great Armand, its just such a slow process and so messy .

I m currently glassing my pool ,100sq m. of surface and everyboby in the family is itching and scratching.fom the dust and fibres.
