BF, funny thing is there not many on the open road hey. Stax of Chatsworth & lsipingo guys use them as "fishing cabs", so by the sand one checks them out. Driving up the N3 between Pmb and Alberton, l'd be fortunate to see an acvw on the road. A few British classics in English Midlands, but that's about that.

R&G, do l have to lower the front to get the desired effect drive or replacing/adjusting what you highlighted would suffice? :drunks:

Keep everything standard, just make sure everything is in good order. Steering box, steering dampener, and K&L pins. Keep your front suspension well greased. Most importantly, because buggies are so light in front, lots of people forget about shock absorbers on buggies. They are still very important and putting a new set on invariably improves the driving a lot.

The tyre pressure I quoted you for the rear might be a bit low, make it 1.2bar. But that is also a matter of feel.

When you are finished with your project, you will find that you will have to aadjust your rear suspension due to the weight reduction. There are threads on this on the forum.

As I am still a virgin and has never had to name a child before, does one name the baby during conception or once they are born? :?:

Not much progress due to wet cold weather. Got my l&p from calooker the other day, so l get to whip the hubs and try find engeneering shop which might do the job. Have to sort rust out in the footwells on the pan, and hopefully get new metal sheets in place.

Hey guys,

When I go register my buggy, how do I go about with the tag? The tag which is on the beetle is one of those in the sparewheel well. Vehicle likely not on eNatis as it was scrapped about 10 years ago.

Do I remove the tag and take along the tag with me to the copshop or am I askin to be arrested?

All the other road legal buggies on the road, what vin number do they use? :hangloose:

Fingers crossed, I will begin working on this in the summer after my exams. Eish, it ain't fun having a full time job and yet trying to study at the same time. Don't envy those that do much more hectic course then I do, especially those that are married with small bambinos!!

When relining shoes off running vehicle, do I have to skim the drums too?
What are the pro's and con's of relining, especially if new shoes can be sourced?
I'm aware that its "cheaper" to reline though. :hangloose:

There is no problem with relining of shoes.

In most cases, it is better because you have the OEM steel parts, and not some cheap replacement, no-name brand.

Also the re-lined shoe is made to fit the drum, where the shop shoes are pre-set diameter, and will take weeks to bed in.

The brake lining will be better quality on re-lined then the cheap replacement shoe's

If your drums are very bad, then have them shimmed, but if you near to your limit on thickness, tell the guy to only hone the drum, this will pre-long its life.

Thanx Retro for that. Follow on question is: can disc pads be relined, or they take too much beating for them to be relined?

Yes they can be re-lined, but normally, they not, because of cost.
But your Brake & Clutch guy can do then if push comes to shove, or bite comes to pain.....

Also, the factory's making the OEM parts are the same making the P&A Parts, and a few models use the same pads, so more get made per part number.

Hope it helps.
