Re: Help rescue a Bay Camper - please
The 1600 bellhousing has a shorter input shaft too than the 1800 or 2000 bellhousing. 1800 had the longer shaft but the shorter bellhousing where the 2000 had both extended. Not sure if that starter will engage correctly with the smaller 1600 flywheel.
I would personally get hold of 1600 bellhousing, input shaft and starter to simplify the setup.

Just a quick update, I turned the key last night and it fired up. Nice milestone to have the engine roaring in the back since it was standing for almost 10 years.

Thanks Fig, there is still a lot to sort out, but the list is getting shorter. Next will be sorting out the electronics, brakes and suspension, doorcards, kickpanelsand then off to the roadworthy.

Hi Jolas yes I still have Norm, the '72 Westy as well. Not sure what I'm gonna do once Norm is finished with the bodywork. I think I will restore Norm while I'm driving around with the '70 and then decide from there.

I am going to do it myself. I hope I do a half decent job. There is no fun in paying someone to do it
