Thanks Freddie. I am in fact from Joburg - I guess we're so far off the beaten path here in Jozi we may as well be on our own continent ;-)

Grew up around VW's and Beetles in particular. My uncle was a mechanic at the Uitenhage plant so there was always a Beetle or three in his yard over the weekend that was getting some or the other kind of work done on it.

Hi All,

Name is adriaan. myself and 3 other friends are currently restoring a '78 T2 that used to be a 'panel van'. things are coming along. She (yes she, any vintage car needs to be a she, they are delicate), is currently at the auto elec to have all wiring inspected / corrected. Once done we will start with the interior.

Reason for joining was to gain more insight into these classics and also starting to understand the lingo of parts and being able to source parts.

I will be posting some images shortly and then begging for parts on the parts section :D

Restoration greeting
Adriaan

Hi all
My name is Craig and I have and I am an addict! It all started in 1986 with a 72 Beetle. In 1999 I turned my back on flat 4 aircooled to flat 2's. But now I have relapsed. I have just concluded a deal on a 59 KG low light that needs surgery.

Hi
Yes , pre 1980's Bmw's some prewar Dkw motorcycles and current project V twin Victoria Bergmeister. I do also have a 1959 KG low light I restored for my wife 17 years ago as a birthday present lurking in the garage.
I now have one of my own too.

Everybody say "Hi Craig ......"

All jokes aside, welcome, and why not share the old KG as well as the new KG project threads with us, we all enjoy a fellow addicts pain.... sorry that should read "enthusiasts pride "

Yeah man, I'm living in Cape Town but am dreaming of living a bit more inland in the countryside where rust is not as big a problem. I'm busy with a log cabin and big shed for all my cars in the Breede River Valley and hope to relocate in the next two years. I tell everybody I want a more quiet lifestyle but the main reason is to get away from the salty air.

Hi, my name is Attie. I´m from Secunda. My wife is the big beetle fan so I bought her this 77 1600 L a couple of weeks ago. Still quite original and trying to keep her like that. Will slowly be restoring her.

Attie, I think you'll soon become a Beetle fan as well! These cars have a way of getting into your heart.

Hello everyone!

So stoked to be a part of the VW world!
I have just purchased a lovely 1975 kombi and so excited to restore her beautifully.

Her name is Delilah and she desperately needs hubcaps. I am battling to find in cape town. Only jhb. If anyone can assist in cape town please let me know. Thanks so much!
