After much more hassle they will only accept a valuation from a car dealer. My invoice's and classified ads that I have kept aren't sufficient according to them. Does anyone know of any dealers that specialise in old vw's or that could value this car for what it is really worth? (anything more than 10k.)

I have phoned countless vw dealers, vintage car dealers and other local dealers and they say they can't value the car for me.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Sounds like stalling tactics. I think it's time for you to be more persuasive.

Maybe a lawyer's letter of demand to their client for the full damages will get things moving. Your claim is against the woman who hit you; you don't have to deal with her insurance if they won't play nicely.

Eish looks like I should qualify as a lawyer ASAP so that I can help out with all of these cases! Seems like there are not a lot of people who are interested in helping out when old vws and insurance claims are involved...

For the last few hours I have been sitting here thinking about this whole insurance ordeal and where to after I have gotten the money. As far as I see it these are the options I have. Number 2 is my preferred option but it might just be too expensive and keep my bus out of action for too long taking into consideration that it is my daily driver.

1. Get the crash damaged fixed (if its even possible) and then find a new door and rear roof panel and get the bus fixed up (which could take 3-4months)

2. Find a new early bay "donor" westy body and get that fixed up and then use that as my body (if I can find one soon then it wouldn't be a problem, but finding one is not easy)

3. Find a new early bay body (tintop) and send that to the panel beater while I drive my westy around with make shift repairs if I can and then when its ready just merge the two.

Right now I have mixed feelings towards all 3. What do you guys think?

All pretty tough, but I do reckon you can find a spare body to help you out, surely someone on here knows/has something.

So how has it gone with the insurance company?

Hi Chris

Did you call the guys in Pta with the rolling 70 westy shell for sale yet?

I reckon if you can get the price down a bit that would be a good solution to your dilemma.
