Interior could be less than 8k, Bobbie was 5k which included the carpet, panels, roof lining and seats. On the panel repair and paint, with the chop and all the estra work I would suggest closer to 20k.

Why do you need to modify the rear seat? the chop won't effect that? Are you using a VWAC motor or changing?

On front & rear lights, the new crystal lights are R500 for a brand new set so not sure what you want to do. Are you changing the rear ones? why not fit some of the earlier smaller ones? pre 60 ones (tear drops) go for about R800 and sometimes come up on the site. 3k for the alternator seems high. If you are sticking with normal motor then you should be able to fine one for 1k.

Can I suggest that you start by making all the changes to the cars appearance before going too wild on the engine.... depending one what you want, it can go from a simple rebuild of existing 5k to full blown 2.2cc motor which you can buy off the shelf for 50k,all based on the original T1 engine.

I am building a modern looking dash, so everything must move back to make space for that. The front seats need to move back by same amount so I need to narrow down the rear seat.

Yes building a new 2006 AC motor with EFI

Want to use LED lights in the rear, something that is flush with the panel, unlike the traditional Beetle lights. NEw OEM Bosch alti from US ~ R3K

:puterwork: Project update:

Got a Bosch alti and T1 alti stand today, thanx Chris.
Ordered the blasting media, slag and microblast as well as some sodabrade... bloody expensive tho, with delivery R3k worth, it is however 750kg worth of media :/ so enough for future use as well :)

Cool, like the chopped roof, one piece windows, and if I am right, your idea of the new VW badge to replace an early sixties bonnet badge will look AWESOME! :hangloose:

Am I right in guessing you want to use slanted beetle headlights (early type), not the later ones ?

Its a complete dechrome job, using the early slanted headlights, and the VW badge mechanism replaces the standard bonnet catch and chrome handle. The badge on top near the windscreen is deleted as well. Its got a sunroof and the windscreen will be tilted back to achieve the lowered look but not cut so it moves the roof line back, a more modern look.

The design process: ViperR (Gary) is :zhelp: me with the :puterwork: CAD part. Some of what he has done overlayed on my hand drawn sketch to show a few ideas. A BIG thank you Gary!
