Damn Armand, you're really picking up some pace here....................Any idea when you'll be ready to join the roof to the shell?

Next will be the fettling of all the inner body mouldings such as head lining and mirror attachments and the rear seat area once I am happy i need to cut away that horrible roof and the rear seat area and join the two. I have set myself a target to get the roof into position before we break for XMAS I also need to allow this shell adequate curing time so this will be a long 3 weeks During the break I will have time to perfect the joint and start the other work Which is the sills underbonnet dash headlight position front flickers etc etc etc etc

A little happened during the weekend The first decklid is made and the dash modified to rhd just needs glassing and finishing the cubby hole lid is also done and so is the sills. a good friend facilitated the making of Carrera badges and here is the result





I also added the first of 3 layers of glass to the roof this is done slowly on purpose in order to minimise warpage in my temporary mould

I am also looking for wheels like these even if the chrome is shot as I am thinking of silwer painted wheels.

Idea

From the 356 conversions i've seen, the engine lid is a double skinned fibre glass item.. Personally i think it'll look great if you smooth the inner part, the area where you see through the top mount engine grill..

Its just one of those finishing touches i think will set it apart from other 356's

Well the new roof has now been done in the mould and will cure until the weekend I will probably pop it out and try for first fitment.

it is done in 400 gsm mat with 3 layers to complete. I might use core mat for future mouldings.
the two dash pieces as well as the right hand drive conversion is now together and ready for final work

Since fiberglass does not like radiuses of less than 8mm the way Porsche made the dash was a no when replicating it in Fiberglass thus I made a extra upper mould which would eliminate the porsche ridge. As this is covered by the dash pad it will be invisible to the observer.

Its looking great! Are you using a cross strand weave or cut strand type mat?

Hi I am using chopped strand mat 450gm sqm not the 400 I was talking about and nade by Owens corning the resins are NCS

A lot of things has happened this week.

When removing the old roof the thing sprang up an assumed the right shape no wonder real doors and windows wouldnt fit.

With the roof finally removed

the new roof came out of the mould ok but the mould split in a few places as it was only built for this one roof



The big task is now to trim the two halves in such a way that I end up with a whole that is square and usable
